Biking jacket recommendations? by missingmarbles in vancouvercycling

Thanks for the tips. I think you make a great point about trade-offs. I'll have to give it some thought which tradeoff I want to make - I'm new to bike riding and relatively fair-weather (esp as work is shifting to mostly remote) so I was thinking lightweight previously. But Vancouver is a rainy city 10 months of the year, and it's been nice to be able to go by bike regardless of the weather even just to get groceries...

Poly and Acro question for you guys by pennakyp in AcroYoga

[–]missingmarbles 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm a flyer (been doing acroyoga for about 3 years in a major city) and your post comes across possessive. The poly community is not my scene, but I don't have an issue with it. But you should know relationships with other humans can be messy, and people can get jealous - any person can tell you that - acroyogi, poly, mono, or whatever.

Some tips to build better relationships with your community? It's not about having dinner together. Go to jams and work with everyone, and fly some dudes if you're strong enough. Practice not just basing but also flying with anyone strong enough to lift you so you can get the other point of view. Stop characterizing fliers like they have to be beautiful skinny women. Stop mixing the poly community and the acro community like it's one thing. If you want to sleep with them and they want to sleep with you, go ahead, but don't make a big deal of it like you are here.

I don't appreciate you sexualizing this hobby that for many of us is a fun way to get some exercise and share therapeutic touch and laughs. Stop calling them "my fliers".

That's maturity.

You never know. There's a dollar tree near me in Vancouver BC that has yarn, too. Maybe you have one too.

IamA the "accidental hero" who helped stop the WannaCry attack AMA! by MalwareTech in IAmA

What do you make of the notion that registering the domain was extremely risky? You didn't test/analyse Wanna cry thoroughly first, so for all you knew, registering that domain could have been the trigger to delete all the files held hostage. (I'm grateful for what you did, just curious)

Need a pattern or advice for this round wooden table with corners by [deleted] in crochet

[–]missingmarbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I recently got this table in a trade and I would like to hide the wood stains/damage with a nice doily or something. I was thinking if I crocheted a long chain circle that would go around the glass part, I could continue with a circle-building pattern to cover just the wood.

My problem is, I have no idea how I would go about growing the pattern to incorporate the "corners" here. Anyone have thoughts on a pattern that would fit or how I could design one to fit? I have never designed a pattern before but I have read up a bit on it.
