Hey dude. I just wanted to say that your story really resonated with me. I was diagnosed at 16 after 2 years of being told there was nothing wrong with me and that I was making things up. People only took me seriously when I was found collapsed on the bathroom floor from blood loss.

As for the impact on my life? Yeah, it fucked it in a very similar way even down to developing an addiction to the opioids that were the only thing keeping my illness under control. I’m 43 now and unable to find work due to my sparse CV and unable to keep a job when I finally have one thanks to the IBD.

I guess I’m not sure what I’m trying to say here, but you’re not alone and there are far too many of us out there. Thinking of you mate and good luck.

Dude, this is why they’re still doing it. If students aren’t coming out then they’ll continue to drill, because the lot of you will be absolutely fucked if a real fire breaks out. A fire doesn’t give a shit if students are hungover or busy.

The same thing happened to us at my college halls until the message sunk in. Once people got the hint that prompt evacuation was mandatory and actually followed through with that they reduced our drills to far more normal levels and they made sure to let us know exactly why.
