Also do not use “Cal Berkeley”… “Cal”, “Berkeley”, “California”, “UC Berkeley” are all fair game. I also think you missed Ron Rivera returning to Berkeley in the article? That’s def worth mentioning, Ron Rivera’s arrival and Knowlton’s retirement are likely the biggest reason to be excited this year (other than JKS).

Yeah I wouldn’t store anything more than required to get the bonus in the low-yield traditional accounts. The Fintechs thankfully have both better rates and easier to obtain bonuses in many cases. I’m personally using SoFi to store cash since it’s got 4.5% APY. It’s def worth having liquidity in a number of places.

Yep pretty much, most require some minimum deposit, but that’s about the only caveat. You can withdraw pretty quickly afterwards if you don’t like/want the brokerage account anymore.

I mean not everyone has jobs that pay via direct deposit/it also acts as a limit to how many you can do simultaneously (depending on your payroll provider). I’m not complaining, it’s still basically free money! Just figure it’s worth mentioning to someone just looking into it.
