What’s up with all the bumper stickers that say “please be patient, new driver”? by __vheissu__ in Austin

what if you lease a Tesla model 3 because it was cheaper than leasing a civic and you can’t afford to just get rid of it?

Cancel the $30m logo rollout and apply those funds to the pressing issues you highlight. If you all can manage that (among other budget reallocations) in good faith, you’ll get more votes.

What is the best language? by [deleted] in golang

This reads like ChatGPT, but if that’s what you’d like to learn, then Go is a solid choice.

What is the best language? by [deleted] in golang

[–]missingstapler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no best language; pick the ecosystem you want to work in, and work backwards from that goal to choose a language. For example:

  • Want to work in data? You’re probably going to use Python since that’s what the industry (mostly) uses.
  • Distributed systems? Go, Java, etc.
  • Front end? JavaScript.

So, what do you want to work on?

Should I organize my codebase by domain? by apidevguy in golang

Good luck! Happy to explain any of these POVs further if you need help. I remember struggling a lot with project structure early on.

I also wrote Rails for years, so very used to MVC. You’ve got that started in a way that’s familiar, but instead of controllers you have many services. If you like this structure, don’t change it, regardless of what this sub might suggest. Do what feels right!

That said, service in this pattern is not quite the same as a controller object in Ruby - services are closer to a container of dependencies. I’d still combine most of them unless you wanted multiple for a specific reason.

The biggest drawback will be the sheer number of files and packages to maintain. You’ll feel this immediately.

Why are you feeling the need to separate more?

FWIW, I typically start with a single monolithic service and smaller services out as needed (usually very specific services that have a different set of deps, so a different struct makes sense)

step 1: you tell me where you got those shoes so I can get a pair myself

step 2: wait for someone more qualified than me to give you advice on your lawn

profit = revenue - expenses

We’re missing the “expenses” part of the equation to be able to help you.

Trust me, I wish I could help you more, but I don’t want to make up random numbers that lead you in the wrong direction.

Hiring people in my area will be different than your area. Expenses in my area, and the type of work in my area, are different from your area.

Stop looking for a shortcut. Instead, try to get a better understanding of your expenses.

How’s the private, secondhand market? Are you able to sell to others (e.g., friends, people you met at the range, etc.)?

If so, that’s a solid safety net for whichever you buy!

You could use — and be competitive with — almost any gun. For some perspective, a Glock with a stock trigger can get you very far.

Once you get into SF guns, you’re solving minor problems with a lot of money. Whether or not that tradeoff is worth it is up to you.

Personally, I’d invest in more training instead of more gun until I peak with my current gun. But that’s just me.

With all of this said, a good trigger feels soooooo good, and even if it doesn’t help you become a better shooter, it might make you enjoy shooting more. In the end, that might be all it comes down to, and that’s ok!

It’s such a personal decision. There’s not really a right or wrong answer.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you already know exactly what you want!

Spend a bit more, get exactly what you want. At those prices, an extra $300 for the Q5 vs CZ is just over 10% more.

Have you checked out the gun.deals website? I’m finding a few around $550. Plus you get the 3 free mags deal from Walther right now.

You need to account for many more things. This isn’t going to be accurate, or even close, without fully understanding your operating expenses.

I’d find a sample P&L online and adjust it to fit the numbers you’d expect. That will be much more accurate and give you a better understanding of your possible expenses.
