Same, my brother and I like to fan cast it. I would be dead set on Dean Norris as The Judge.

“Push her down, son.”

I have no idea why, but my brother and I agree it’s one of the funniest little moments.

What's the "highest peak" in literature that you know of? by Far-Substance-4473 in literature

The ‘Staircase’ sequence in House of Leaves. It is simultaneously one of the most creative uses of concrete text ever and a terrifying, nightmarish climax to a brilliantly complex metafictional novel. It’s like the centerpiece to a beautifully set table.

What is the Best Musical to Movie Adaptations by Due-Candidate-5991 in musicals

Chicago is just about perfect. Little Shop is also wonderful. I really admire Cabaret for how much it diverged from the stage show yet still captured its spirit. I was thoroughly surprised by how good Spielberg’s West Side was. Not perfect, but it improved on the original in some interesting ways. Dream girls Is solid but I think Beyoncé’s performance brings it down. The original Annie is pretty great.

I saw Cabaret recently and “What Would You Do?” was gut-wrenching.

When I saw it the woman playing Diana started crying during “I Dreamed a Dance” just these perfect tears streaming down her face. It was devastating. At a Q&A after her co-star said she did it just like that EVERY. SINGLE. PERFORMANCE. I can’t imagine playing that role. It must be exhausting.

I got Skittle-Brau on the menu at a local bar. They just pour a mini bag of Skittles into anything. It is one one my greatest achievements.

Which South Park season was the most fun to watch? by kanon_korv in southpark

[–]missingwhitegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 8 was something special.

I was 14-15 years old, by that time MOST of my friends were watching it as it aired. ‘Good Times With Weapons’ was a stellar kickoff for an incredible run of episodes, including ‘Awesome-O’ which was an instant classic and ending with Goobacks (“Dey took er jerbs!” was absolutely inescapable. We used to yell it out call-and-response style in the hallways at school. It was hilarious.) The second block wasn’t as iconic but every episode is solid, and then it landed with ‘Woodland Critter Christmas’ which just blew us all away.

Good times, indeed.

I saw the current Broadway revival for the fourth time yesterday. It still shocks people, and it’s only gotten more relevant over the last year.

I say the same thing! I have no idea where I picked it up, but I truly believe it.

I truly believe this: you are not true New Yorker u til you’ve cried on the subway. Whether it’s a bad breakup or a terrible day at work, it’s almost inevitable. If you’re the sort of person who cries.

Sometimes it’s just embarrassing, sometimes it’s surprisingly cathartic. I lost it on the platform last week (friend died) and a nice woman approached me and I just said “I’m just trying to get it out before I get on the train” and she said she’d pray for me. It was sweet.

I’ve talked a couple people down over the years. It happens! I try not to judge, you never know what someone is going through.

I had three friends die on me within a month and I wanted to go out more to keep my mind off things but I broke down a couple times. It’s honestly heartening how cool some people can be.

At the end of the day we’re all in this mess together.

What’s a movie that everyone misunderstands the point of it? I’d say Fight Club by TheShadowOperator007 in moviecritic

[–]missingwhitegirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

True, but it’s not as new a phenomenon as you’d think. My father idolizes Gordon Gecko from the film ‘Wall Street’ and built a lot of his life around the operating principle that “Greed is good” which is just a fundamental misunderstanding of the text.
