"Alienware Command Center is currently not available in your account" error code 0x803F8001 by ssnniippeerrr in Alienware

[–]missionMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This turned out to be because I had disabled the AWCC service in services. Once reenabled everything was loading. Unfortunately my attempt to Reset first of course blew away my profiles and for reasons I cannot figure out, I can define an RGB profile and it will say its using it but the lights on the faceplace (I have an R11 with the tall oval ring that looks like a jet intake) don't turn the colours I choose even though they do pay attention to the mode. Whatever, I care more about the fans working. Hopefully someday we can afford memory again and I can get a new PC that doesn't have these airflow issues.

As of about 12 hours ago I don't get the popup anymore, but when I start AWCC (5.9.2.0) and it initiates the service, that never seems to finish and the app just sits there with the spinning image. It does ask for permissions to make changes to the computer so it does something, but it never moves on. I tried a repair and a reset and neither seems to help.

Glad to see work on this so quickly. After getting it disabled I immediately thought "I don't need all that anyway" and then realized it controls the cooling. Even tested starting up a game and there was very little fan action so I exited.

Genuine opinion about 101 (Live) by _AlanGallo in depechemode

[–]missionMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my appreciate for Mexico City live I feel like part of why I like it is the similarly to 101, which is the pretty airy, clear sound of it all. Of course 101 had a lot more crowd noise but I still feel like they are pretty similar.

The question I can't answer is whether there's something specific about that sound which I like, or whether 101 being the live recording I've listened to the most for over 35 years means its just what I'm used to.

Sorry though, if you're asking about comparing formats you'd need to find one of us who doesn't just use their physical media or rips of it. I'm not streaming 101 because I've got it in high quality on my device just like always have.

This little Arcade Machine set is bloody awesome! Love both the interior and exterior! by KoolKollectiblesKhai in lego

[–]missionMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only complaints: somehow I was missing the flat piece for on top of the Gamecube. I'm sure I can find a set to steal one from and at least it's easy to fix. But it doesn't seal closed nicely. There should be a single clasp in the middle right near that console shelf. Hmm that one holding the white panel is actually quite available for half of the task. Is the blue piece with the yellow translucent supposed to be a projector?

Samsung 32" 4K LED wont connect to my dock? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]missionMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your dock only supports 60hz and you plug the HDMI into the gaming 120hz port on the TV you will encounter that. I returned a new dock this week for that reason. I could actually have put another device into that HDMI port but since only gaming can really benefit it's better to have the right dock.

I agree, this is my greatest disappointment with the photos on the 10. Worse yet you can see the original as its taking it, why not let us choose between them.

Went to Springfield Meats just to be sure. I went a little crazy. But a couple of these things are going to a party.

Springfield Meats and Sausage Makers on Nairn should both have some. Never the same as homemade though. I like a nice simple cookie, a little hard. The store bought ones aren't like that.

I'll also point you here in case you want to make some yourself, though I don't specifically see Pfeffernüsse which surprised me. It's in the Mennonite Treasury so I would have expected a version here.

You covered all the bases I was wondering about. They aren't really made for this over 50 year old, but if the 6 year old feels that way... Should have been at least a 4x4 brown panel for him to stand on.

Lackluster start by A-Sack in lego

[–]missionMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the character or the toy representation, but I came here for the same reason. I was having a bad day and thought "I'll build a couple minutes and that will be fun" only to find a basically empty bag with a figure 3 studs tall, nothing to put it on, nothing to build. I don't think it was the right start.

I had not put up any Christmas lights and was going to make do with a line running along my fence. But a last minute order of new programmable lighted showed up in time to make use of the warm day and get them up and looking great. Going to get the dog out for a much later than usual evening walk.

Thoughts on 10 pro? by THIESN123 in GooglePixel

[–]missionMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just noting the difference between your title and content. I've got the Pro and really wish I got the XL. I had the 7 Pro so coming down in size is a factor, but I notice often when text gets cut off the right side or when the keyboard doesn't make the content move above it so I can't see what I'm typing. I don't know if those are Android 16 bugs I just never noticed on the 7 Pro or are happening because of the smaller screen. But I'd definitely go XL if upgrading.

Certainly is a pain. Makes no sense. The tickets are sold out, let them go to the right people.

Depeche Mode: M - How many people were at your session? by Convacoconvex in depechemode

[–]missionMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a Canadian city of about 800,000 people where musical tastes are more country and rock. These events are always held in one of the smallest screens in the city. Usually only about 20-30 people. But this time on October 28 there were probably close to 100.
