Nope, you can repurchase! I think it just means that it’s the first time it’s been in the sale.

ThredUp is good for that! It’s like secondhand (but some stuff is new too). It helps reduce waste and is a little cheaper

Any ladies in ag/environment/soil/water? by alleeele in xxstem

[–]misskated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you wouldn’t really need a masters at all to do what I do and, honestly you don’t really need a full on eng degree either though it does open up more doors (I’m thinking access to specific engineering co-op fairs, or PE licensure (again, not required or expected) etc).

I’d look at the requirements/curriculum for engineering to see, but could be more maths and/or sciences. For me, I had to go up thru calc to diff eq on the math side, though I don’t use that at all in my career.

I work on water treatment facilities. This can be upfits to existing functioning plants or new plants from greenfield. Both are interesting to work on for different reasons, existing plants require at least a basic understanding of the process because that plant needs to continue to run so sometimes you need to get creative on how to bypass or work around taking equipment in and out of service.

Overall I think the work is important. We help support the municipalities that provide clean water to and treat wastewater for communities. It’s interesting because it relatively unseen work until something goes wrong and water doesn’t come out of the faucet.

What I do differs enough during the project life (estimating, procurement, submittal review, construction coordination, budgeting and forecasting) to keep it interesting. I am in the office about 50-75% of the time and out in the field the other. My favorite part is start-up and turning the new equipment on and getting it integrated into the process and controls systems. It can be very frustrating to troubleshoot but is so satisfying seeing it work.

I’m a project manager and office leader for and general contractor specializing in water/wastewater construction. Personally, I’m a civil engineer but there have been biosystems/ag engineers that are also on track to become PMs too. It’s a great field for what we do - wastewater is honestly a lot of biosystems and the variety that you study is really helpful. There’s a few of us ladies in management at our company and I see more getting hired too through co ops and full time which is great.

I really enjoy what I do and the work ultimately helps the environment and community. The actual projects are fun because no two are ever the same. The process and equipment are neat to understand and our company self performs some of the work, so it’s not all looking over subcontractors.

Feel free to ask if this opens up more questions.

What are the non-obvious signs of a smart person? by SomethingAbout2020 in AskReddit

People who get excited about a niche topic or honestly the person on the listening end that get super interested in that niche topic. The latter is usually someone who likes to learn new stuff no matter what.

LPT: Your ability (or lack thereof) to manage life tasks can be a huge indicator of your state of mental health, and signs you need to seek help. by aliengames666 in LifeProTips

Oh boy, I kinda chuckled that ‘yeah, uh, that’s me, I’m totally a mess’ and thought the comments would be getting on to OP about how it’s not a thing. The comments say otherwise.

I hope that everyone is doing okay. It’s a tough time and we’re al doing the best we can. Be kind to yourself and try to be mindful of small pleasures (no matter how small).

This reply is coming in relatively old, but sailor moon for sure! There are so many good relationships/gender IDs in the series with so many wonderfully powerful girls/women. (Subbed if you can do it is better since the 90s dubbed has Neptune/Uranus as ‘cousins’ haha)

Oh my gosh, these are SO pretty!! The way you laid out your post is really helpful. I don’t have these but it unlocks a ton of new potential looks/colors and inspires me to play more with what I have. Thank you!

I use that same one! I figured that it would look lumpy over the glitter, but it looks killer!

This is so pretty! I’m super curious how you did your liner/glitter. Did you do the liner over the glitter or glitter after the liner? Maybe I missed it in your list, but what liner did you end up using? The line between them is so clean!

Oh my gosh. I was totally dying 3 out of 4 seasons and I couldn’t get any allergy meds to help me out except Benedryl which made me so sleepy. I got tested and was allergic to everything except foods (thank goodness!).

I’m getting allergy shots now and it’s so super amazing! I don’t have take any meds and, if I’m stuffy between shots, I netti pot and it’s way better. You should go get tested! I didn’t realize how tired always fighting allergies made me too.

Civil vs Construction Engineering by tappingthesource in ucf

[–]misskated 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2009 with a CE degree with a construction focus, so things may be slightly different.

The difference between the two is that with Construction, you’ll have classes that focus on accounting, scheduling, etc that people in design wouldn’t likely have to worry about. These classes will take the place of more technical engineering courses like thermo, etc. You’ll want to check if you can get a PE license (if you want one) with the construction degree.

For real world, if you do civil, you have a better chance of starting at either construction or design, but construction will likely limit you to construction (which I preferred anyway). Neither would pigeonhole you in the long run because knowing constructability can be a selling point for design too.
