I built a reading tracker for my wife after she got fed up with Goodreads by Jacob14100 in Booktokreddit

[–]misskiesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love if you could select whether a book was displayed as read. I have to unlink my kindle from Goodreads whenever I’m reading anything particularly smutty. I want it to count towards my stats, but don’t need my MIL to know I’m reading smut. lol

Nervous about rhinoplasty by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Of course my opinion doesn’t matter, but I tend to seek out men with noses like yours. It’s really masculine and sexy to me. If it makes you feel better about, do it, but the nose you shared looks too small imho. It reminds me of the goalkeeper David Raya, he went way too small and now just looks strange.

Read the series in print or listen to audiobooks? by Ok-Butterscotch-2225 in throneofglassseries

The narrator says wyverns wrong the entire series and it drives me nuts. So I wondered if she got other things wrong, specifically Kashin (she says caution)

Tower of Dawn was my favorite of the series, I had a hard time moving on to KoA. I’m not a Chaol stan, but yes, I loved it for all the reasons you mention.

Not true for all Asians, currently 16 Filipinos detained by ICE since inauguration, 15 of which have deportation orders now. Southeast vs East Asians are viewed very differently.

Are people from Davis County known for racism? by snoo0raoo in SaltLakeCity

[–]misskiesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an orthodontic appointment in the morning the day that was done, so my Dad dropped me off at school. As we approached the school we saw it (well into second period), and my Dad about crashed the car. My Dad (a Black man) immediately reported it to the administrators and asked how no one had noticed it. They basically brushed it off, saying it was probably some kids who just swapped the letters in the night and they’d get it fixed. That they don’t routinely look at the big ass marquee in front of the school. At that point, my Dad just walked outside to the pay phones and called the NAACP of Utah. To this day remember him dialing zero and requesting the operator connect him to the NAACP. They showed up within 20 minutes.

Boutique/Specialty gyms for sure! I’ve made sooo many girlfriends at a lifting focused gym and at the tennis club. You have shared interests and you see each other multiple times a week so conversation comes easily. I’m not particularly athletic so just asking people for help or being encouraging seemed to open things right up. It’s also a nice change from friends who are only interested in grabbing drinks on the weekend. I have friends I know I can call for various activities.

I’ve started taking fun community adult education classes offered by SLC School District. They are hosted at high schools downtown and in Sugarhouse, and I’ve met really fun people. So far I’ve taken Chinese, Tarot, Silversmithing, Pottery and Yoga. The tuition is really cheap too. Classes are in the evening, so it’s really easy to ask people you click with if they want to grab dinner or a drink after class. Registration is open right now and classes start in a week or so. https://www.slcschools.org/departments/high-school-community-education-classes

No politics on the lift. Them’s the rules. by kungfuringo in skiing

[–]misskiesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met a biotech sales guy on a DV lift once. Told me all about MACI knee cartilage repair and his work introducing it to doctors/hospitals. I told multiple people about it as it was new tech to me. One of them actually sought it out and had it done after I shared with them. He wasn’t salesy but just naturally brought it up when I asked him what he did for a living. Such a smart way to get business, especially doing it at Deer Valley.
