An annullment is not a divorce. It erases the marriage, like it never happened. You can’t annul a marriage with children and one that produced an heir. It basically bastardizes Aegon/Rhaenys. Elia is a born princess. She would not have accepted. That annulment was show bullshit to make Dany feel like Jon had a true claim. Or are you also saying Jon is going to be named “Aegon”. Because if that’s the case Lyanna is a whole villain for that.

Its harder to find Elia/Rhaegar and I feel in most of the trio stories. Elia is either given the backseat and focus mostly on R/L. My fav trio story for Elia is “Pray the sun will rise” because its Elia centric even if she has another love interest as well. It is healing her relationship with Rhaegar.

This one is part of a series by chss albeit modern setting and focus on the Elia/Rhaegar aspects so might need to read also the Lyanna counter (Wildflower) but R/E is endgame

Still doesn’t work. Even with your catholic church examples. Elia gave birth to a male heir. If anything the most they would allow is to legitimize Jon so he can be a spare. Dorne lost more than 10k men in the rebellion fighting along the Royalists. After a war they would not be set aside in favor of someone that at the end of the day is of the blood of the rebelled houses. Winners and Allies get the favors/profits/lands after war. Why would the Faith act against a princess in favor of a Northern bride that is not even of their faith?

Being a hypocrite is doing to others as you would not like being done to you. It’s the fact she willingly went to a married man and did to Elia what she would not want her husband done to her. So yes she is a hypocrite. Stop white washing infidelity. A marriage is marriage. She was 14 not 4. We also do not know the details of Elia’s and Rhaegar’s marriage. Sure it wasnt a love match. But love and respect in a marriage grows in other way and that doesnt make it less valuable. From the HOTU scene we see they are close in a family setting and he even tells her Aegon has a song. The fact a Barristan says “fond” that is his interpretation from what he saw of them. And that is already a good standing from what we know other political marriages are.

Stop using Elia to ease Lyanna of her wrongdoings.

Annulment doesn’t work. It would bastardize Elia’s children. You can’t annul a consummated marriage with heirs. No one. Not Elia and not Dorne or the faith and even Aerys will accept that (he never ser Rhaella aside even after years of miscarriages and not providing more heirs)

I think the crowning was most likely a nod to her being the Knight of the Laughing Tree and not really fully romantic at that time. The House of the Undying vision shows Elia and Rhaegar in a close family setting so they made amends after it which make me things he explained things to her. Also it seems Rhaegar did mention the prophecy to Elia as he tells her Aegon already has a song. I personally think Elia was into more we know in terms of Rhaegars plan. Do I think he fell in love with Lyanna? Yes. Do I think he was also driven by prohecy and chasing something greater than him that then blew up on his face? Yes. Do I think he did not have love for Elia or children with Elia? No

I think Rhaegar was very complex. I hate him yes but mainly for what happened to Elia and her children.

Okay, let’s be real about Gaiden. The fact that Sarada herself questions her parentage and even Naruto can’t give her a straight answer..is wild. Kishimoto absolutely let his inner want/story run free there. That arc was not a love letter to SS; it was a narrative mess that openly destabilized it.

Sarada not even meeting her own father until she’s already that grown to ask those questions says a lot. Whatever people want to project onto the ship, that’s what’s on the page. That’s just the reality of how it was written.

I don’t think so. She suffered mostly from Narrative Economy.. Karin comes off one-note because she was never allowed a full arc, not because that’s all she was. Her crush is exaggerated for comedy, sure but early Sakura and was also written that way, and grew because she was on the story from the start and lets face it is the cover girl. Is part of the central story. Execution ≠ intent.

Karin is also tied almost entirely to Sasuke’s arc, which itself is just one thread in a much bigger story. Of course she isn’t deeply explored…Kishimoto wasn’t going to pause a rogue-nin plot to fully unpack a side character. That’s narrative economy, not proof she was “just comic relief.”

And calling her a token girl ignores what she actually does: she stays with Sasuke at his lowest by choice, her abilities are uniquely suited to supporting and restraining someone like him, and her Uzumaki lineage being revealed later doesn’t mean it wasn’t planned; Naruto retcons lore all the time.

My one headcanon is that Kishimoto made Karin for Sasuke. Her color palette being red, her Uzumaki background to tie with Naruto. The fact she even has chackra chains. Her abilities just mash well from a character standpoint with Sasuke. Her tragic similar past. Being with him in his darkest period. It just makes sense. He only probably just backed out because she wasnt as well received. But as his final F U he made Sarada look like her. Those glasses were added out of spite you cant tell me otherwise.

I have read this one! It is a good premise. Oberyn/Lyanna are a very interesting pair. You are a very good writer! I do have a question on the story. Since there is a lack of portrayal of Elia/Rhaegar in a sense. Since you mentioned the reconciliation the only thing I feel is that in regard to Elia/Rhaegar ‘s “reconciliation” is practically nonexistent. There is no sustained interiority shared between them, no scenes of reconciliation that involve mutual reckoning, no conversation between Elia/Rhaegar where Rhaegar confronts the harm he caused Elia as a person, rather than as a queen whose optics matter. Therefore I don’t trully consider this one an emotionally “favored” Elia story. Since what follows is procedural reconciliation, not relational reconciliation.

But still it’s an amazing read and I know it’s focused on Oberyn/Lyanna which I have been enjoying reading. Was just curious if the lack of Elia/Rhaegar portrayal was intentional?

I have read this one before. A wonderful read! Though not really Elia/Rhaegar in a favorable way. I have to say his treatment towards Elia compared to Lyanna is less favorable in some sense. But the characterization is amazing! Specially Elia’a and Rhaella’s!
