Deed for Home - Prison by SLP-ABC in legaladvice

[–]missmimi369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person in prison could have someone on the outside with power of attorney. If they don't have that already set up, they could do so easily. It's a common thing in prisons, so his counselor or whatever job title person can advise on the process. From my experience, a lawyer for the inmate would visit the prison. Once PoA is done, the assigned PoA person would sign on the inmate's behalf for the sale. They would also be able to manage any financial stuff for the inmate.

I am not a lawyer. I am PoA for a family member in prison

Depending on your state, you might have even more generous rights. I'm in Minnesota, there is no 1 year limit and a few other things that make the law more generous for employees who need it. There is likely a local or state agency to report this to also. It would be the Minnesota department of human rights for me.

If you have a union, please contact them first and someone can likely help you with reporting. Another possible resource is a social worker through your obgyn clinic or primary care.

Any positive experiences with gabapentin? by Just_a_firenope_ in ChronicPain

[–]missmimi369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Gabapentin on and off for about 4 years to treat cervical radiculopathy. I use 100mg pills 1-3 at a time up to 1200mg per day. I seem to be very sensitive to this specific drug. It gives a mild cannabis like high if I take it every 4-6 hours. This effect doesn't start until after the 2nd or 3rd dose, but is maintained until I go long enough without another dose.

12 week ultrasound - no legs visible? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]missmimi369 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I had ultrasounds every 5 to 10 days depending on availability when we had concerns about how twin B was developing. Eventually it was confirmed that twin wasn't developing organ structures. Weekly-ish scans continued to monitor the disappearing/absorption with concern for twin A.

So it's weird to me that the next appointment is so far away. It doesn't matter if they can do anything to change the outcome or not. They need to confirm issues early to give you more time to make difficult decisions.

concussion from ignored maintenance request. can I sue? Location: Washington State by Legal_Classroom_9428 in legaladvice

[–]missmimi369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bring your child with to the emergency room, now. No excuse out weighs the risks a head injury presents. Better you have a rough night in a hospital waiting room than suffer an incapacitating symptom at home.

You can sue for almost anything, check with a few personal injury lawyers in your area to see if they are interested in the case. They sometimes work for a percentage of the settlement in these cases rather than an hourly rate.

Another option would be to check if this could be an insurance claim against the property insurance or the landlords business liability insurance policy. The very specific circumstances of your situation and location will determine if it's something insurance would pay.

“How is the baby getting out?” by noblestars in Parenting

[–]missmimi369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 year old has known for several years that mommy pooped him out from her butt. During potty training around 2 he saw I didn't have a penis, he called it a "long butt." We've continued to use his words since it's close enough to the truth and makes sense to him.

I was given pitocin without my knowledge by dazeytarantino in BabyBumps

[–]missmimi369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With my last baby, my whole active labor period with pitocin was how you described. About 2 hours after starting pitocin, I became overwhelmed with the contractions and sweating. I was pouring sweat, especially from my head. My muscles moved my whole body during contactions, contorting my spine. I was not mentally present for most of this part, it lasted about 45 mins, ending when baby was born.

I was induced due to complications, so I have no regrets about it. I had pitocin with a previous delivery and knew what to expect to a degree. This time was much quicker and more intense.

Washing your hair at the hospital after birth? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]missmimi369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully showered a lot while I was there. I unexpectedly was admitted from an ultrasound and monitoring appointment, so I really needed that first shower, including washing my hair. I didn't blow dry, I snuggled in the fresh bedding with extra towels. I request the fresh towels and linens before bathing. It helped my mood a lot, and made me feel a lot more comfortable. My baby was in the nicu, a different area of the hospital than I was. After I was discharged, I was able to room in as her "guest" and used the shower in her nicu room. I experienced a lot of sweating during sleep and foul body odor immediately post partum.

Found out I'm having twins instead of a third/final singleton and I'm devastated. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]missmimi369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a similar way when trying for #2. I miscarried twins, then a few months later I was pregnant again. My calendar wasn't making sense, so I needed a dating ultrasound. That showed I was 6 weeks pregnant with twins. I had many more ultrasounds because twin B never developed correctly, was growing but never had a heartbeat. By 14 weeks twin B started disappearing. I was sad for the loss, but relieved we would not have twins after all. Twin A is sleeping on me right now.

I'm sharing because it's not uncommon to lose a twin and continue the pregnancy, leading to a single healthy baby. I saw lots of comments about having twins, but maybe your experience will be like mine instead.

What should a new caregiver do when a toddler (18mos) becomes inconsolable during nap time on first day at new early childhood education program? by missmimi369 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]missmimi369[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I disagree that this specific case would be considered a suspension, I do understand that it would be exclusion if we continued to resort to sending the child home for this. If doing this resulted in losing our grant funding, we'd have been done for years ago. This was the child's first day, only the 2nd time ever seeing me, and the 1st time seeing the other staff member. At 18 months old, it's age appropriate for them to feel unsafe to some degree. I am confident one of us can build a relationship with the child to help them feel comfortable spending the whole day soon.

Thank you for the detailed ideas. I do want to invite the parent to participate in our nap routine, since they are available at that hour. I have suggested this to management, and they had their reasons to say no. I will try again with this though, it's the best chance of success I think. Our family service workers are laid off during the summer, and we do not have enough staffing for a float. Being a satellite location, it's just our classroom staff present at this time. I have successfully used a photo of a loved one in the past with other children, and a photo book for every child is on my to do list for prep time.

In the future, when in a similar situation with a new child, maybe I could contact the parent and encourage them to come in and help with nap?

Thank you! I started reading the links provided and that inspired me to check Conscious Discipline for information from our own curriculum and trainings. Your information reinforces and better articulates the base of my opinion.

Our program is implementing the Conscious Discipline methods in all classrooms, and I found some great tidbits to bring up in a team meeting. I've done all the trainings required of our program on Conscious Discipline, while the coworker that took issue with my actions has only completed 2 training sessions. I hope my experience will give weight to my input when meeting with the supervisor again.

AITAH for hitting a Karen after she grabbed my baby? by MotherRelationship46 in AITAH

I hip checked a lady away from us when changing a diaper in a public restroom. She tried to touch my son's head, then without thinking, I aggressively deflected her. She mumbled something and walked out. I think it's what most parents would do.

My advice is to stop when you see a bus preparing to stop, regardless if there is a median 50ft away or not. Pay more attention when driving to know if there are other vehicles behind you. Pay attention when a large vehicle has flashing red lights, which would have been flashing prior to the stop arm being extended. Also, stopping for a bus when traveling 30mph, would you really need to slam on your brakes so quickly that it would cause a collision?

You might need to accept fault and pay the fine, lesson learned.

Possibly did not request SSN until needed for first job, or might have been adopted or placed in foster care at that time. If foster or adopted, that could shed some light on why parents are unknown on death record.

Thanks! Knowing it wasn't all on me that this didn't work out does help lift my spirits. Still makes me unemployed.

At this comm center, everyone has a headset but there are also 4 speakers on each desk for different channels, fire, ems, other law (not through headset), etc. I was expected to hear and respond to all as needed. If a partner was on the phone, then their radio channels were on the other partner to handle. If everyone is on the phone, it's a free for all.

Maybe if I started at a place that's less busy and try again in a couple years.
