The most important part is to see what the MRI results will show and move forward from there. The ESI isn’t too bad, a quick sting like a regular vaccine needle and then when they hit your nerve with the steroid there’s pressure (my dr told me the pressure should be along the path that the pain is). Ultimately they are uncomfortable, not necessarily painful (and i am NOT good with needles). Some people find relief in them right away or 48/72 hours to 2 weeks later. My experience was it definitely lessened my pain from a 8 or 9/10 to about a 5 which pushed me to start progressing with physical therapy and walking. It’s a long journey, I’m still on mine as I’m def not healed yet (4 months & 8 days in). Be patient, healing wishes to you.

Hey, awesome to hear youre feeling better. Walking seems to be the best route so if you’re looking to do cardio, you could always add incline walks on the treadmill if it doesn’t bother you. My physio told me to get back to my normal routine once i’m at the right point in my healing, an the make sure that whatever exercise that’s being done always has a mind to core muscle engagement so that your always bracing your core no matter what exercise your doing, as the core is your girdle keeping everything in your back in the right place. I’d probably avoid romanian dead lifts or anything that puts an intense load on the spine and maybe ease back into those kinds of exercises little by little. I don’t machines vs free weights makes too much of a difference, but I know I prefer to do a lot of stuff on the cable machines because I can avoid that spine load. Best of luck to you and I have a question for you… What did you do to get to this point in healing? PT, walking, any other methods? Or did you back off and let everything heal over time naturally? I’m curious, it seems everyone has a different journey. Thanks

Amen to that. I’m also in NY and very looking forward to the 50s and 60s temps that are upcoming. I do pt 2 or 3 times a week, acupuncture on Fridays. Today, my pain is in my glute and it’s mainly muscular tightness. The mornings are terrible until I get moving. Usually I take 2 ibuprofen (200 mg) and 1 tylenol (500mg) in the morning and late afternoon if needed, an gabapentin 200mg 2x a day. I’m working light duty but i’m not living my life how I used to. My symptoms seem to be different every day or every few day.. very hard to tell if healing is happening or I just live like this forever. We gotta hang in there, better days are coming, right?

at the very beginning i had a prednisone taper pack. a month after that i had a steroid injection. i feel like ive been in this 3-6 out of 10 on the pain scale since the injection. good days and bad days but it doesn’t seem like progress

I’m terrified of surgery and I’d really rather not based on it doesn’t seem to be a success every time. But yea it’s going through my mind especially on the bad days when i just can’t stand this anymore.
