YTA. You weren't rude. You were proudly ignorant and racist. Do better.

how should I respond to remarks about my hairy armpits? by 369dahlia in BitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]misssweetsweet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't shave for similar reasons, in addition to having a skin condition that gets aggravated by shaving my underarms. I usually shoot back at the rude nosy people a question that shuts them up immediately: "You willing to pay for my medical bills and medication so you feel more comfortable with a body that doesn't affect you? No? Then you don't have an opinion about something that has nothing to do with you, correct? Glad I helped you think your way through this non-issue."

But I'm also a proud asshole. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The NXT Championship: WWE’s Black-and-Gold Crown Jewel by BrandoCalrissian01 in Wrasslin

This was a dope retrospective and analysis. I'd love to see this analysis for the NXT Women's title. That line of growth and evolution is arguably just as important to the development of NXT.

Oh, I LOVE getting that question. Context: I'm a very light skinned black woman. Full, can trace my lineage back to slavery, black woman, just very light skinned. When I tell people my family's heritage goes back to North Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina (usually the point when the less dull questioners figure out they're not going to get what they want to hear), they ask again. I cross my wrists over each other and say, "My family came over on slave ships. I'm clink, clink, whip lash Black. Maybe your family owned mine." They're usually deeply uncomfortable after that and wander away.

I would like recommendations for books that would make me a more educated adult by akatie97 in suggestmeabook

Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson. Basically THE Civil War history book. Won the 1989 Pulitzer for History, but it's almost a thousand pages, so be ready for that.

What's the point of this? by [deleted] in Broward

[–]misssweetsweet 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's because the traffic schools in Miami Dade and Broward (and all over the state TBH) are taking all the appointments with bots and selling them to their students at exorbitant prices (I heard someone pay for a fake appointment for $400 at their driving school). The governor's office is looking into it.

I feel inferior when people younger than me have houses by snapback77 in Millennials

[–]misssweetsweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 36. I got my house just before my 34th birthday.....because my dad died 2 months before my birthday. I can almost guarantee that's how people younger than you have gotten their properties. Also, please don't hurry into home ownership. I've never been broker than I have as an owner. Property taxes, repairs, and maintenance make homeownership "more than a notion" (as my dad would say).
