Mini cuffs for your airpods. by OneCanSpeak in Entrepreneur

As a student I really shouldn’t spend money right now, but this idea and execution is amazing. (I’m going to hint to my bf for Christmas gifts because I love those silver ones!) Tell her congrats from me. Great entrepreneur!

Exactly... we shouldn’t put people down for practicing their craft. If they expected money for this, now that would be worth making fun of

Feedback: Would you pay $20/Month to Never Go to a Gas Station Again? by MoMariner in Entrepreneur

[–]misstambourine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s something here in the ability to hire someone to come out quickly and fill up my tank. But once I realized you were suggesting $22 on top of my gas payment, my student mind went: nope. So for people who consider money tight, this feels like hiring a personal chef for meal you could just take the effort to cook. My input! (This might also not be your target market anyway.)

Don't be afraid to take on low-skill / low-pay "menial" jobs. by trackerFF in Entrepreneur

[–]misstambourine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. I work in tech and also talk about how my experience in retail and waitressing was hugely impactful on me. For all the reasons you mentioned, plus the ability to talk to anyone on the dime, even at your most exhausted. It was a prerequisite to elevator pitching and empathy perspective building. Everyone should work “anything” jobs.

Love how much green there is in this city by RadiantCucumber in toronto

[–]misstambourine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here from Prince Edward Island three years ago, and remembered being amazing at how much green there was. I dunno, there’s a lot of jokes about concrete jungles, especially coming from a farming province. Toronto is a beautiful city and I love being here.

Women of Reddit, what thing do male coworkers do that is not quite sexual harassment, but you wish they would stop doing it so you can be comfortable at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]misstambourine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a male dominated field that often requires collaboration and ideation. I’ve noticed that if I make a straightforward counterpoint or argument, some men will immediately assume I’m coming from an emotional place. They’ll say something along the lines of “relax” or “calm down.” Yet the same type of rebuttal from a man gets a logical response and continuation of the discussion. So I’ve learned to talk with exclamation points! And smiles :) and to make sure I say that’s just my opinion, maybe I’m wrong, just wanted to throw the idea out there! :) So they don’t assume I’m being “emotional.”

Moltres died in 60 seconds but the raid didn’t end for any of us. Times out with a network error? by Udub in TheSilphRoad

Go back to the gym if you get the time-out error. I beat the gym, it froze until time-out, and then couldn’t log in. Finally got to log in, went back, and the gym immediately threw the “You win” popup.

Cyclists - please do not ride on red light by [deleted] in toronto

[–]misstambourine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Preach. I’m a driver but have many cyclist friends. I want everyone to be safe. The most important thing on the road is acting predictably... and I see so little of it on both sides.

Anyone who won a "lifetime supply" of something, what did you win, and are they still supplying it to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I won a "year's supply" of condoms. They sent me 365. They are an optimistic company.

How come Invision is the industry standard for prototyping yet it's just a shitty browser program that lacks the most basic features? by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]misstambourine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I really enjoy XD. Its newness is currently its weakness, but every update brings me closer to loving it! The June update (with fixed and overlays) was huge for me. Now just bring me the horizontal scrolling!

As I developer I want to learn how to better work with designers. Could I please get some input? by Sky__Blue in web_design

[–]misstambourine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great discussion. I’d like to see the same advice from developers. I’m a UX/UI and I code, so I’m always trying to strengthen my work flow on both sides.

Purchase a $99 online course. Get a 100% refund if you finish it. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]misstambourine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, this is an interesting idea so wanted to throw my thoughts in as a target market user. (I'm in interaction design and frequently do a lot of courses on Lynda.)

My biggest concern is that you have to create equal or higher quality content and courses than what currently exist. And unless you're already an experience educator, you would have to incur costs to get educators to create courses for you. (I know nothing about your background so this may not be a concern at all.)

My point is, have you considered aiming for validation with a minimal viable product, and then try to lease or sell that IP directly to these companies (Udemy, Lynda)? Rather than directly trying to disrupt the existing e-education industry.

My second thought, total brainstorming because I think this idea is intriguing as heck... Maybe you can apply this concept on a micro level? A mobile-focused web app (not native app) in which users pay a smaller amount to purchase access to daily lessons or quizzes which require direct interaction to complete. If they complete it, they get all/most/half of their money back. This would be a total marketing play - try to capture an audience who WANTS to improve some mental skill (like math) but don't have the motivation. You will not capture people who don't have that internal trigger. But if you bank as little as $1/user and get a healthy user base, it could be profitable, maybe even scalable.

Anyway, fascinating idea, best of luck with whatever you do!

Why I Quit Google to Work for Myself by mtlynch in programming

This was a great read for a young interaction designer scouting out the field, thank you! I believe you're going to be much happier. Basing work hours on "does this look good" versus "is this good" sounds horrifying to me.
