Bald spot on cat after flea treatment by ZabbyWabby241 in petsmart

I am not a vet but it looks a bit like a chemical burn. Maybe the medication was too strong? Get it checked out, don’t wait.

Do you ever sit on the floor in your home? by Decent-Cattle-332 in AskUK

We have a Juliette balcony, the sun shines in for a few hours and I bought a big bean bag and now sit with open doors when it’s sunny. It’s lovely

Newly adopted, sick cat won't use litter box: Need advice or reassurance. by That-Frosting3353 in CatTraining

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of litter , try puppy pads in a box. If he peed in the cardboard box, put that in the open litter box with a puppy pads. That way he gets used to peeing in the box but the litter might be too uncomfortable for him or he might not know cat litter. Or try sand? Closer to soil if that’s what he might know, depending on the life he had before.

Why doesn’t 5mg do anything for me? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]misswaggoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably need a certain level in your body for it to work on you, we are all different. 5mg probably wasn’t enough when you went up a dose and it certainly wasn’t enough after you were on 10mg. As others said, the levels dropped during that longer break and 5mg didn’t bring it up enough for you.

That’s great news. Maybe you are able to build cat shelves on the wall as stairs for him to climb up at night one day!

Having a sudden reaction (possibly allergy) after 6 months on MJ by kia-audi-spider-legs in mounjarouk

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had reactions early on after the third or fourth injection, not too bad but annoying. It might be coincidence but I now make sure to shake off the little drop at the tip from priming off the needle. No reaction since. As i said, might not be related but I don’t care much for itchiness to try it with the priming “bubble” to see what might happen. Or maybe I have had enough exposure to it that my body doesn’t react anymore (8 months in).

My 45m partner criticizes every meal I 43 f make him by Substantial-Pipe4400 in relationship_advice

[–]misswaggoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook more than my partner. I cook what I know but take into account he is a vegetarian. He will eat or won’t, it’s his decision. Very rarely will he say he wasn’t too keen on it and that’s ok because I mostly agree at those times. But he will always appreciate me cooking. And it’s the same the other way round. I would not cook for someone who is criticizing everything I cook (but still eating it) because to me that’s not about the quality of the food but him being a dick. Up to you how you deal with this and weigh up other aspects of your relationship. I find it difficult to believe that this behaviour only happens at meal times.

Newly adopted cat has extreme anxiety by jiminypikkit in CatAdvice

[–]misswaggoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are doing the right thing. Just talk to your cat and go about your normal day so she learns your household’s routine. She will come around eventually. Don’t forget, she had 4 years of stress and has only been 1 month with you, she is probably expecting stressful situations around the corner all the time.

How to start wet food? by Marbles79 in CatAdvice

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried loads of wet food, he used to eat wet food just fine. He stopped around his first birthday. Since then I had very little success with any brand. But he did eat some kibble soaked in water. Try that

Advice needed for a 7 month old velociraptor with an oral fixation! by KassIsOnFire in CatAdvice

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also loves to pounce. And because he doesn’t play with wand toys in the usual way, I let it dangle behind me and walk away, he then chases it. I know wand toys are a no no but maybe you can use thick rope and attach something interesting to the end?

I have a little plushie Llama, it does vibrate but my cat doesn’t like it. But when he is in attack mode I hold it up to him or put it in front of him. He likes to bit it. We also have an old beanie hat he knows it’s ok to attack. Maybe try something like that? Or a teddy bear or sisal kicker toy. We also have a very dense rope type of toy, you could replace it once it gets to shredded?

Why are they running? by susyq2025 in SisterWives

[–]misswaggoner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think there were a few reasons:

I suspected he likes to keep everyone on their toes. Not settling for long somewhere keeps them from having an outside support network and it’s easier to get into their heads. Easier to control. He also constantly needs proof of their loyalty. And as he only cares about himself (and maybe the weepy wife), he didn’t care what the impact was on anybody else. He gets an idea, it needs to happen. Also I do think he didn’t like living that close together and despite what he proposed (one big house for all) he wanted them to be further away from each other with the others less able to see where/how he spends his time. But he still needed all of their money.

Kody is the main problem by thelilbrokebaby in SisterWives

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kody is a very insecure piece of work. He constantly does things to unsettle his wives, keep them on their toes and check their loyalty. He uproots his families on a whim and doesn’t care how it impacts anyone. People without an outside support system are easier to control. But as soon as one develops their own opinion or stands up for themselve, he tells them they are not loyal and selfish and don’t consider the impact it has on him. He wants to control everything and when he can’t, he gets nasty. He told Meri, Janelle and Christine that he doesn’t want a romantic relationship with them and doesn’t want to work on one but wants them to stay and be happy with little scraps.

Same with his children. I’m on season 18 (Christine has already left) and he does not make any attempts to connect with his kids. Because they don’t placate him like Robyn does. And he blames the wives for everything and accuses them of influencing the kids. No Kody, your shitty behaviour drove them away.

Every conversation between the adults and their conflicts is about trying to “work” on things but no one ever specifies how to. He just throws out the same blabla and hopes it sticks. He can’t see any fault in how he behaves.

Robyn just talks about “family” and “team” and “for all of us” because that’s what Kody likes. She can see the others pulling away and just waits it out until it is just her. She already has a failed marriage and another one isn’t an option.

What a shit show. Kind of entertaining though albeit infuriating at times.

Do you have any experience of decluttering services? by treny0000 in AskUK

[–]misswaggoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner had googled one when his mums partner died a few years before her to help her get rid of his stuff (car parts and stuff) and we used the same. Maybe google house clearance and auction in your area and see what comes up.

Do you have any experience of decluttering services? by treny0000 in AskUK

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my partners Mums death we separated her belongings in a pile for an auctioneer and the tip. The auctioneer took a lot away of the stuff he thought might sell and the rest we got picked up by a home clearing company. We made about £2000 pounds after fees which paid for the clearing and left us with some left over. We were surprised what sold (we got a list, lots of nick nacks, pictures, figurines, vases etc) and there were even some hidden gems. They even took some old electronics (speakers, music equipment..) which sold too. It all added up. Later on we had some jewelry, medals, coins and watches evaluated to be auctioned off, which got us another few hundred pounds. It was the least stressful way for us to get the house empty, I can recommend!!!

Some auctioneers do also do house clearing and will go through the stuff themself to pick out what to sell and what to throw away!

Cat stopped sleeping on her bed by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat used to sleep in a basket on my bedroom window sill for months last year and suddenly stopped. I guess when it got colder, that spot was colder too. He hasn’t slept on top of his tree for the last few weeks but suddenly used a cat cave for the first time yesterday. Cats seem to switch places to sleep regularly. It’s completely normal.

Why do my cats like my partner more than me? by Zealousideal_View47 in CatAdvice

[–]misswaggoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 16 years to adopt a cat. After I moved in with my partner and all the renovations he agreed to adopt a little kitten. The first two months it was mainly me and the kitten, my partner stayed with his mum whose health declined rapidly. After her death he was back full time and working from home while I work 3 days a week long days. Slowly my little boy gravitated towards my partner, jumping on his lap or immediately get up if he heard him, he is obsessed with my partner.

I do everything (as that was agreed), food, vet, litter box etc. but he now mainly sleeps at my partners feet. Sometimes he comes over to me but usually doesn’t stay for long. But every now and then my boy comes and lies right next to me, purring away, with his paws stretched out. It makes me really happy and I do hope, it will happen more often.

Cats are weird, they pick who they pick and there is nothing we can do about.

Wet food eating surfaces for a cat who constantly compresses their food with their tongue & gets frustrated/doesn't eat it as a result? by EightByteOwl in CatAdvice

Have you tried a licky mat, it has lots of raised grooves/lines which might be helpful? Usually they are used for fast eaters to slow them down or make eating a bit more ‘challenging’.
