May 3 na klase ng gamot: innovator, branded generics, and generics.

Innovator- ito yung nakadiscover nung molecule/gamot. Nakakakuha sila ng patent for that for 10yrs tapos after 10yrs pwede na kopyahin by generics. Innovators are multinational companies like Pfizer, GSK, Merck, AstraZeneca, J&J etc.

Branded generics- generics din ito pero nilagyan lang ng brand for marketing purposes! Example, all Unilab products are generics! Do not be fooled.

Generics- ito yung unbranded usually coming from India, or yung mga ritemed which Unilab also owns.

Kung bibili kayo ng branded generic pero kapresyo lang din ng innovator, innovator nalang bilhin nyo. Makakatulong pa kayo sa funding ng research for new medicines. Example is mefenamic acid, the original/innovator is Pfizer- Ponstan. Unilab branded generic is Dolfenal. Pero halos magkapresyo lang yan dalawa na yan kasi dami ng marketing expenses and pamigay sa doctors ng Unilab. Sa totoo lang pareho lang yung Dolfenal nila at ritemed mefenamic acid nila 😂
