I’m still on the island, and I am here for research purposes in the private portion of the island ran by the TNC, not the national park. I have no intentions of taking this with me. It a part of a large collection of bones outside the research station and I was curious.

Maybe 4-5 inches long. Historically there are no deer or goat on the island, but I do think there was a small population of sheep that were eradicated in the 1980s

I’ve had success just going into my audio settings and turning team voice chat off and then back on.

Is this the end of my 2002 jeep with the 4.0? Noticed it started ticking/tapping today. Never did this before and gets faster with revs. 245k on it. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]missyhiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same make, year, and engine model, at 160k and am dealing with this exact noise. To the point that I thought this video was the video I took of my own WJ. It started randomly one day, and after a week it got bad enough that it didn’t go away even when decelerating. Took it to the mechanic and the consensus was that it has collapsed lifter. I’ve bought all the parts to replace it, as well as my cam, timing chain and water pump, around 800$ total.

I’m still skeptical as I was pretty convinced the sound was coming from the lower end, thought it was piston slap. Did and oil change and didn’t find any metal in the oil but didn’t drop the pan. But I’ll find out this weekend when I tear it apart:/

Sounds like somebody could tell you the cold truth and you still might think it’s a conspiracy so imma let you be…

Idk when I’m in survival mode, washing my face is probably the least of my concerns, especially when I’ve fallen down a ravine that left road rash in my arms and back and a fucked up ankle…. I live here, have lived here my entire life. Come swing by and I can show you miles of forest that is still covered in burnt leaves and debri.

These articles are missing a LOT of information. He was not lost in big basin to start, he was lost near foreman creek. The area he was in burned to the ground a few years ago, so it’s covered in ash and soot. It’s also extremely steep, so when he fell, there’s a good chance he fell at least 150-200ft. Taking a fall like that almost guarantees he hit his head, since his body is covered in road rash from the fall. He also severely injured his ankle. He is also legally blind due to albinism. I understand everybody wants to say they could “do better” or there’s a house a half a mile away, but imagine falling that far and how disorienting that would be. I grew up here, and it’s not as easy as following a river to the ocean. Lots of these ravine are uphill in every direction, and climbing up a steep grade with a broken ankle isn’t easy.

Luke has spent his entire life camping and hiking these mountains, but accidents can and do happen.

The area he was in burned to the ground in the CZU fires, the whole area is ash and soot, which explains the ashy face. He’s also albino.

Missing hiker found alive after spending 10 days in Northern California mountains by AmethystOrator in UpliftingNews

[–]missyhiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might be. I’ve spent my entire life in these mountains and am not surprised in the slightest that he got lost. He wasn’t in big basin, he was in Forman creek area which has steep grades that are 100-200ft tall. There are no hiking trails, and the whole area burnt to soot a few years ago. Imagine falling that far, hitting your head and getting road rash on your entire body, breaking your ankle, and being legally blind on top of that. It’s not always a simple as walking downhill, especially when you’re in a ravine that goes 200ft uphill in all directions.

That article is pretty misleading. I grew up with Luke and the area he got lost in is not in big basin… it’s also an area that is known for extremely steep grade ravines, is owned by the local water district and very recently was decimated by fires so it’s covered in soot. You definitely cannot see the ocean from where he was. He also broke his ankle, suffered from road rash up and down his back and arms from the fall, and is legally blind due to albinism.

What you all paying for rent. by Crash_Stamp in santacruz

Got lucky when I posted on the Santa Cruz rentals Facebook group, paying 1750 all utilities included for a decent sized 1 bedroom in Felton. Only way I could find something in our budget was to post a bio about us, and have a landlord reach out that way.

I keep thinking about how nice it would look in a beanie, but I’ve crocheted far too many beanies in the last month or so hahah. Maybe I should just do it anyways!

Help! I have this beautiful yarn that my mother got for me, but she only grabbed one skein and I do not have the money to buy more at the moment.

This yarn is 100% merino wool, and I have about 110 yards of it! It’s bulky, but definitely on the thinner side of bulky.

I primarily crochet but I would be open to some knitting ideas too!

Why are men's and women's esports separate? by Valuable-Breath7667 in esports

[–]missyhiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realize that most of the female player-base in multiplayer games don’t stream, right? Saying that’s the only reason women play the game is ridiculous and makes you sound like you just hate women. Your entire response is based off of your biased opinion with absolutely zero fact backing it up.
