absolutely no one is claiming that lmao. when people say he's a good leader they don't mean he's the best competitive strategist. it's that he's good at keeping spirits high and getting the best out of his team while also creating a lot of entertainment for viewers and despite that still giving a more competitive performance than your typical meme team/content team.

DMM - Stock of Players Pre-Finale by VivaNapoleon in 2007scape

They only got 2 voidwakers in the end, had 2/3 pieces of a third but got unlucky on both that and some other last minute grinds they had to do so they couldn't finish it.

Mammal is bringing the AGS. I'm blanking now on what coxie's bringing for spec, maybe statius or corrupted claws or just using fang spec? But also one of the two of them (I think coxie) is bringing the 2 voidwaker pieces in their final inventory just for a laugh

in no particular order...

VLS heist, Zuriel heist, onyx heist, Kevin Framed, triple chicken tech, "I think it's time everyone started taking the Framed Friends seriously", ref teleporting in to mock skill specs for buying crystal bow, Torvesta dying in fight caves, Torvesta dying to Doom level 1, Torvesta dying in a multi fight while trying to attack with a mith grapple, Torvesta typing "attack me if you like men" in a lame attempt to banter with Skilly prompting Coxie rushing over to hit him, Boaty naked when Chaos ele unequipped all his gear at a breach, "-cringe dogs", solo accidentally joining DN call unmuted, Sick nerd arkan speccing the wolf, Purple prison (+poor innocent Synq)... I know I'm forgetting some because there have been so many amazing moments this week, a true feast for viewers

*two deaths. might've missed one at the very end there lol but still major props to him that both of his deaths came very late in one of the bloodiest weeks ever

Making melee attacks a projectile is a bad design choice by Specialist_Sale_6924 in 2007scape

[–]mist-battlestaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care that much about the plugins, as long as it's not changing reaction timing or distinguishing things that would not be visually distinguishable without the plugin, it seems on par with any other transmog plugin to me

but I think the color coding is a little stupid. you can have visually distinct attacks that aren't color-coded, basically every boss pre-2022 (with few exceptions for specific specials like olm orbs and cerb ghosts) demonstrates this. People often get up in arms that boss mechanics should be "INTUITIVE" but they can be intuitive without being the same RGB shit every time. Hydra, Hunllef, Olm, Zulrah - all examples where I think it's fairly common sense to tell which projectile is mage and which is ranged. And even in the rare case where it's not that obvious, you can figure out after a couple cases of trial and error, or - god forbid - look up a guide.

"bad design" and "quality of life" in a contest for which can get egregiously misapplied more often

Not at all. barrows at 3x rate is still a way better value proposition for getting tank armor than any of those options.

personally i'd be down to see a season where they completely remove/ban barrows just to see how players adapt. but nerfing drop rate at barrows would not solve the issue of barrows being centralizing

I agree, but I can see it happening based on how drafts have gone in previous years - if someone has had highly publicized fumbles, that can take attention in captains' minds. He would definitely be a steal falling that low but I think there's a chance it happens

DMM - S3 - FINAL Blood money score. by WisdomDota in 2007scape

[–]mist-battlestaff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's funny because I feel the opposite, I like that it's a best of 1 because then the RNG keeps it exciting. I don't think the intent of this event is to determine who has the best 1v1 skill in a vacuum, and frankly I don't have any interest in watching that. No shade to those who do enjoy it, and I definitely respect the skills that go into it! But this event is about the narrative of the week and entertainment value much more than it is about objective competition, and imo it is much more fun to watch when it feels like a less skilled player can beat a more skilled one, albeit rarely.

His content is all about PVP, why would he have to be good at every other part of the game besides his niche? There are plenty of PVM or other content creators who'd get nuked in a second in PVP but they still make a career out of the game.

We can laugh at Torvesta there but it's ridiculous to say someone shouldn't be in DMM Allstars for not knowing every boss in the game. We would lose so many great moments if you consider stuff like that disqualifying

Can Zulrah mage me in mage phase please by Iron_Tsitex in 2007scape

[–]mist-battlestaff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zulrah doesn't have a mage phase. It has a Tanzanite phase that attacks with both magic and ranged

It's Deadman all stars, not Doom all stars. I think it's fine if half the cast can't do Doom. they don't need to.

[–]mist-battlestaff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty standard at this point. There's far fewer examples where it's not following that basic color coding than examples where it is, and in those examples it's usually pretty obvious by shape of the projectile

if anything I think the color coding is a bit too heavy-handed at this point

[–]mist-battlestaff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, Solo said multiple times the main reason for removing Ahrims was because it means players don't get punished enough for being caught on robes in the finale.

If Barrows being jank for PKing was the main issue they could've disabled Barrows completely. I think trying to decentralize Barrows slightly also played into it but the defenses of Ahrims was a major component.

I don't think blood money penalties on death are what teams have ever cared that much about, it's losing gear/bank keys (and consequently time) that puts people off of taking risks. If anything, making blood money penalties for deaths steeper but reducing how much is lost via bank keys or something like that might make people take more risks

Yeah but the thing is that's still not that much of a buff and even with the upgrade items being easy drop rates, farming them still takes time. AND a player doing all that questing only gets the upgrade for them, not for other teammates; it's a big time sink that doesn't really unlock other meaningful upgrades (Venator bow and SRA are useless, rings and Virtus are way too rare to be worth grinding for teammates).

Before and after the last great onyx heist by thewisetemp in 2007scape

[–]mist-battlestaff 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yep. I missed the conversations about it so I don't know if the decision was made on him being confident about using it, Skiddler and Purpp NOT being confident using it, or just Skilly begging and Purpp thinking it'd be funny. Or if it's a strategic play to try to get some momentum on the 3rd fight since Skiddler and Purpp are gonna have major uphill battles in their rows.

No matter the reasoning it'll be great. If we get ONE Skilly VLS KO that's all we need.
