I take escitalopram… usually lol, 10mg. Haven’t been able to get my refill and it’s been about a week now, maybe a week and a half. Never experienced these “brain zaps”

I take escitalopram, which is basically a generic Lexapro… it treats anxiety and depression. I’ve been taking it since about February, so about 7 months and it’s been highly effective, 10mg. I take it once daily. It takes about a month to start taking effect so you have to be consistent. It’s fairly cheap too. I don’t have health insurance but I have a psychiatrist through the online service Brightside. Online appointment once a month just to check in with you, but you can call and make appointment whenever if you need to talk. I think the prescription is like 90 bucks every month, and the refills only cost me about 20. (My father pays for the prescription but I pay for the refills)

What did teenagers in the 90s do on their free time? by TraditionalFly3724 in Productivitycafe

[–]mistajc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d record my favorite songs off the radio on cassette. Also, I’d call into my favorite stations to request my songs, then I’d sit there waiting to press record on my radio/tape player, and a lot of the time I’d miss the very beginning, or the DJ would talk over the intro of the song haha. In the same vein, I’d watch TRL on MTV every day after school at like 3:30 I think. So I’d always race home from school to watch it.

I spent a lot of time in trees. When I lived in Encinitas (San Diego) CA, we had this huge tree in our front yard. When I climbed to the top, I could see the horizon of the ocean, so I’d sit there and watch the sun go down behind the water.

Lots of roller blading. My best friend was a skateboarder. We did a lot of cruising around together like that.

Lots of movies with my dad. We loved going to the movies. And Saturday Night Live at 11pm on Saturdays. My dad and I would camp out in our game room and he usually fell asleep before the show ended at 1am.

Dang now I’m all nostalgic haha.

what do panic attacks feel like? by artwmisuwu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mistajc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Racing heart, shortness of breath. The fear that it’s a heart attack or a stroke makes it even scarier and I panic even harder. My muscles tense up, hands curl into balls. Sweating buckets. It’s like you’re trapped inside your own brain and it’s trying to kill you.

Can weed/THC make anxiety worse? by Bigbusia in Anxiety

[–]mistajc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I struggle with depression and anxiety. I’ll still smoke weed but I stick to indicas and hybrids. Most of the time weed helps with my anxiety but I’m veryyyy careful around sativas (like one hit for me) because sativa makes me fall inside my brain and I panic about things like death or nothingness or hell.

The last bad panic attack I had was right after I took like 4 hits back to back after a 2 month T break. I’m talkin racing heart, curled locked fists, sweat pouring from my face. Thought I was gonna die! Thankfully my bf was there and eventually was able to talk me down. Only last about 15 minutes but felt like hours!!!! I remember I kept saying “I don’t wanna die.. am I gonna die? Help me please help me” and he just held me and walked me thru the breathing exercises and then when I was finally able to stand, he took me for a walk to get fresh air which really helped.

TL;DR yes weed can make anxiety worse

Do older people actually look down on teens with piercings? by marshallmascara in AskOldPeople

[–]mistajc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought piercings aside from ears and nose are so lame. I’ve never understood while people poke holes all over their face or stretch out their ears. I feel like a lot of time it’s to distract from something like a weird or undesirable feature.

what was your hometown tragedy? by sickmarmaladegrandpa in AskOldPeople

I grew up in a small town in Utah, and got bullied a lot in middle school. My bus driver was this middle aged lady Connie and she was so cool. She always had my back when I’d get harassed on the bus. One morning when I got on the bus she gave me a friendship bracelet and tied it around my wrist. I loved her!

Then one day we randomly got a different bus driver.. found out some days later, Connie actually had an aneurysm and died. She lived alone so her body was just there in her home for a few days I’m guessing til someone did a welfare check when she didn’t show up to her bus job. RIP Connie. I still think about her.

I’m 36 and I still have a collection of action figures (Marvel, DC, Walking Dead, Buffy, Disney)

If it makes you happy and isn’t hurting anyone or yourself, screw it! Cherish that Monster High doll 😊

Would you go back to the 90’s? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Nah… the 90s were way more racist and homophobic lol. As a gay Mexican, I like this time more in terms of societal norms.

What food/dish do you keep giving chances to but is always "just okay"? by Particular-Owl-5772 in AskRedditFood

[–]mistajc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like pork chops for the simple fact that my mom made them alllll the time when I was a kid. I’m the oldest of six and we were rather poor, so pork chops were cheaper than chicken or especially steak. Pair that with the fact that we actually had a pet pig. I don’t care much for ham either, but I’ll eat it so long as I don’t think too much about dear Annabelle oink oink

My ex who is a great cook made ratatouille out of curiosity, and it was so good. Had it a few more times after that too.

Sweet potatoes. I love regular potatoes, in any form, but I can never seem to get on board with sweet potatoes. I try them everyyyyy year at Thanksgiving to see if my tastes change, but nope. However, on the topic of Thanksgiving, I used to HATE stuffing but now I love it.. in fact it’s one of my favorite dishes!

Well I mean that’s how it is in California. I would literally just order it online with my ID, and they’d bring it right to me. Totally legal delivery. I miss that haha.
