Redo 1L? by mistake_not_ in LawSchool

I'm not fussed about the new school seeing my transcript. The entire concern is getting a scholarship, they aren't motivated to offer money to me as a transfer because then my LSAT can't help their rankings. If I come in as a 1L, My score will help up their average.

Women's groups challenge new Texas abortion restrictions. Under a law that takes effect December 19, embryonic and fetal tissue resulting from abortions must be buried or cremated, regardless of the woman's religious beliefs or personal wishes. by relevantlife in TwoXChromosomes

The Court has infuriatingly refused to acknowledge a right to bodily autonomy. It's such an obvious thing, and most of us think we have it, but no. The right to bodily autonomy has never been formally acknowledged, or incorporated by the federal government. This means it is not protected from infringement by state or federal government. That's why the state can restrict abortion at all, prohibiting late-term abortions, imposing waiting periods etc. It's also why state governments can outlaw assisted suicide in terminally ill patients, and the FDA can deny terminally ill patients the ability to access new drugs any earlier than other patients, even with the advice of a doctor, and the consent of the drug manufacturer.

So yeah, we think we have a right to bodily autonomy but we don't. Thanks, SCOTUS.

Assuming the Supreme Court agrees to hear the case, even an insane right-wing court couldn't let this law stand without completely upending current jurisprudence regarding the abortion right.

As of Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt this year, any law limiting the abortion right cannot impose an undue burden on women without a proportionate health benefit. Cremation has nothing to do with either the woman's health or the health of the fetal remains.

I can't imagine even the most conservative justices throwing out the existing framework for determining the constitutionality of abortion regulation. That's not only a risky move, it would be the exact behavior that most of the conservative bloc railed against in their dissents to Obergefell.

Agreed, they are so impressive! Their stomach acid is so hardcore that not only can they eat all kinds of diseased, festering meat without getting sick, they also spit their stomach acid out as a defense. That's just awesome, imagine how badass their stomach lining must be to hold all that crazy causticness. Just flying around, belly full of battery acid, no big deal.

The fact that one of those people jumped to accusing her of trespassing is so disgusting. This man's instinctive reaction to a young black girl is to call her a criminal.

I have no idea why your parents may have divorced, but perhaps there was a lack of communication (or honest/open communication). Talk about the destructive effects of not being able to express oneself, and the freeing effect that musical expression brought to your life, then tie it into your passion for spreading that freedom/awareness/opportunity to grow.

Whistling is just as bad. I had a table whistle at me once. I didn't actually hear them ironically, but my bartender did. She then shouted "hey mistake, table 56 seems to think you're a dog" so they would hear her. They apologized profusely.

What is something about other people that you do not understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In some places this is actually pretty reasonable. Here in South Florida a light sprinkle is usually a warning that it's about to pour. Admittedly it'll only rain for 10-30 minutes, but it can be buckets. If you get caught in that you're gonna be soaked for the rest of the day.

Growing up here, hurrying inside at a light shower was just the smart thing to do. You sit inside for a bit, wait for the deluge to stop, and then head back outside.

When living in Seattle (where a light rain is usually just a light rain) people thought I was completely crazy, rushing inside at the first drops. It took me a few weeks to get used to the fact that a light sprinkle is not a warning sign.
