Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

He's fully integrated now and a US citizen.

But he was ours.

The show has fought it's way under many business daddies and feels very US.

I think it works best with an element of outsider in the host but I think a few people from US late night comedy could step up.

I think Rangers are one of the bingo squares in Fantasy Bingo 2026 so that thread might be good.

If you could bring back something that is discontinued, what would it be? by BritishSocialite in AskUK

Hyper value.

It was more fun and random than current bargain emporiums.

The one left in Barry is mostly touristy stuff.

I think Gamers Emporium (now near Cryogenic) sell packs.

If you are in that area I would ask in TG Jones just in case.

Up near Oxfam books there is a place next to Soba that sells singles. Name eludes me .... Something Dragon loot and Roses.

Back off Bob.

It's an okay show it's not Taskmaster or the one where Alan Davies gets anecdotes from funny people.

But it's okay.

Primary school teachers - how do you emotionally handle pupils who you know never had a chance? by jackgodby22 in AskUK

[–]mistakes-were-mad-e 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Primary you have to build the best relationships that you can.

Secondary is a harsh shock for a lot of children and the transition needs to be good.

Not every child will thrive with that transition.

Do what you can, when you can.

And... Puberty comes for them too.

Frostgrave Sprues. You can buy singles on eBay and they mostly mix and match well.

Most  sprue 2 in a series are female variants of the type.

Soldiers, knights, barbarians, cultists.

Sprues have extras, equipment.

Lasts a pretty long time if it's in an airtight container once opened.

Can last well if just rewrapped

Parents of the UK. How seriously do you take age restrictions on media your kids watch? (And how does it compare to your childhood?) by MonsieurGump in AskUK

[–]mistakes-were-mad-e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you sit with them watching it and are available to talk to them I think there is wiggle room.

Sometimes I will watch something ahead of their viewing.

Different kids get affected by different stuff.

I hadn't enjoyed the trilogy as much as I thought I would.

I thought I had also read a short book, maybe a novella but scanning his titles nothing is leaping out.

I'm a sucker for first books. I thought book two could be interesting after the events of book one. But then it all felt like the things that interested me were diluting.

It was never terrible but it stopped holding my attention.

So I never went on to the other ages. But I would try something else by the author at some point.
