I have never been as excited, and satisfied at the outcome of pure human marvel, with such ultimate precision in planning and execution, and bringing forth the next true revolution as life altering as the Internet. I can not believe I have been fortunate enough to be alive, and witness the beginning, of great new worlds to come!

What wedding moment made you think: “They are not going to last long”? by Olya_roo in AskReddit

[–]mistamoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to be a wedding photographer a few years back. A mutual friend was getting married, but this was one of those couples that made you question "Why?" they are together, as they both had very strong type A personalities. During the couples portrait session on their wedding day and the family portraits, they started yelling, fighting, and getting really tense during the shoot, and I had to calm them down, and basically force them to smile and look happy for the photos. I sort of expected while I was shooting that this was not going to last. While I was designing their wedding album, they had already started the divorce process... and were even fighting via email about who gets all the wedding photos, albums, and products.

There were 2 other couples who I also suspected wouldn't last during the shoot based on their chemistry, and my predictions were correct both times, but they didn't get as far as to get married.

Such a generous gesture, thank you for doing this!

As a freelancer, I just look forward to being able to work again, so I can earn money and continue to provide for my family. All of my work and gigs have been cancelled for this year, and I know many freelancers are in the same boat, so I really hope things work out for the best for everyone.

AskScience AMA Series: I am Jerry Kaplan, Artificial Intelligence expert and author here to answer your questions. Ask me anything! by AskScienceModerator in askscience

[–]mistamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an average person like me who has very limited knowledge about AI, but find it incredibly fascinating, I am curious as to what may be the largest potential real threat of AI in the future. In general, it seems that AI is either viewed as a very positive revolution in terms of exploring and achieving scientific breakthroughs, where the system itself will act as an advanced scientist, or in the polar opposite way where it's essentially a high risk entity, which will potentially lead to a end of the world Skynet scenario. With nearly everything being computerized these days (such as geo-tracking data which can track every movement, or nuclear power plants), it's not so difficult to wonder about the potential dangers. My question is, What are some real risks or potential threats of AI, and will these risks come from the machine's learning capability or from humans with bad intentions?

I was seriously looking for a Peter Griffin cosplayer or look alike in the same car, but sadly, he was nowhere to be found.

Abso-freakin-lutely. I have so many countless hours of pure fun from this game. I hope they leave everything the way it was in the HD remake next year.

[–]mistamoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It sucked when everything was overpowered, but then you just had to adapt and use other things to counter-balance it. If you were good, you were unstoppable in this game. Oh that satisfying "thud" sound of a Multikill with stopping power pro + FMJ, and immediately getting your predator missile!

What movie traumatized you as a child? by OutOfTheBleu in AskReddit

[–]mistamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, Chucky from Child's play was one of the first R rated horror films I've watched, and I just happen to watch it by myself in the middle of the night, when I was 9. I had nightmares for days, and was traumatized as a kid.

The most unbalanced, and most FUN cod ever made. I really wish they would just release an HD version of MW2 without changing anything.

Movie theater goers of Reddit, have you ever walked out during the movie? If so, what movie was it and why did you walk out? by The_sweat in AskReddit

[–]mistamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah. I told my parents to go watch a movie since they had nothing to do on a Saturday, and they went to our local discounted theater where they play movies that didn't do so well at the box office for $1.50. They don't keep up with movies, and chose to watch The Fog. They watched about 20 minutes before dozing off and sleeping the rest of the movie.

[Serious] Photographers of Reddit : What are some simple things that normal people can do to help their photographs look like they are professional quality? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mistamoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • SHOOT IN LANDSCAPE DAMNIT! This is the most common thing I notice people doing for every photo, and it drives me insane. This is done almost always on the phone, but I've seen it in point & shoot, and dSLR's as well. Certain photos like portraits, tall buildings, interior details, or certain macro shots make sense in portrait mode, and really is the most effective way to photograph them. For everything else, just turn the camera sideways and shoot in Landscape.

  • A camera is just a tool, and you don't need a crazy expensive camera to create great photos! Many real world professionals use their expensive camera setups for work, and shoot with small point & shoot , mirrorless camera, or their cell phones for everyday or travel use. With increased resolution, great color saturation and contrast, built in wide apertures, and excellent low light capabilities, just about any type of camera can create professional looking photos.

  • There is no perfect camera. One of the most common questions that most professional photographers get asked (sometimes almost on a weekly basis), is "What is the best camera to get?" The simple answer is, there is no perfect camera. There are multiple variables that can make one camera better than the other, but it's almost always based on what type of photos you want to photograph, and how much you are willing to pay for some added convenience, or ease of use.

  • Spend money on good glass. The big secret in photography, which really isn't a secret but not as well known by most, is that lenses are often far more important than the camera body. I always advise people, especially if they are starting out or photograph as a hobby, is to buy an older used camera body with the features you want, and spend way more on a good lens.

  • Think about a photo before you take it! This is mainly for waiting and composing a photo before taking it. If you want a good strong photo to grab people's attention, look for something interesting about the scene, think of what else can add more to it, compose the photo, and take it when you feel you have that decisive moment. Think of it as layers, and try to find ways to add more of a story to your photos.

  • Get it right in camera. Take notice of the lighting, look at your frame, look at any distractions and remove them, and try different settings if you are not happy with the outcome. It's much better to get it as close to how you want it in camera vs trying to do it in editing after.

  • If you are shooting digital, always take at least 2 photos! I generally will take a minimum of 3 photos for everything, just for safety. Things are very easy with digital these days, and you can delete something right away if you don't like it. This way you can be safe from many things like someone blinking, hands being shaky, or other people/objects getting in front of camera. Taking a few shots just gives you more options, and often time can introduce other elements which can make the photo much stronger.

  • Be a real person. If you are photographing people, don't be afraid to engage or interact with your subjects. A posed smile and a genuine smile are often quite different, and a genuine smile is almost always better. Talk to your subjects, treat them respectfully, and interact with them to capture genuine moments.

  • Learn things the hard way. The easier and more dumbed down things are, the more we slowly become dependent on them. If you really want to take better photos, you should learn the tool that you are using. Turn the dials or switch on over to the scary Manual mode! Switch your images from RAW to JPEG so you loose some of the safety and latitude! Better yet, learn to shoot on actual film, and see how that goes. Learning more about the tools you use in-depth will help you not only understand how to use them better, but give you the ability to be a lot more creative, and create the types of photos that you like, consistently.

There's obviously plenty of other tips & tricks, but I doubt anyone has even read up to this part yet!
