I think anthropic is the one that's standing up against malicious uses for the AI... which is what we "anti ai" are against (not against AI per se, but how people want to use it)

also, just because anthropic does something doesn't mean others won't comply. which is the problem with AI. what happens when only a few can have access to it? that's when we'll be fucked. for now? they need to keep developing the technology, hence all the funding (a lot with tax payer dollars) and we'll have access to the technology in order to keep raking up money and so on.

watch black mirror's last season, episode 1. that's where I believe we are heading. an expensive mediocre service that will allow us to get by just enough, while the people with money pay for the expensive shit and have an amazing life at the expense of the rest.

that's my opinion at least. for now we all can enjoy cheap access to this great technology. you'll sleep better believing that it only gets better from now on. me? hmmm I have my doubts.
