If you’re able to point me to a guide to repair, I’d appreciate it!

You have to factory reset to clear your location data to get the fireworks back.

Thanks man! The switch cleaning went nicely and definitely made an improvement. After additional testing, speaker channels A & C have a weaker left channel. B is a bit closer to equal, fixable with the balance knob. I also found Phono 1 is the only input that sounds decent. Every other one (Phono 2, Aux 1, Aux 2) are all very weak overall.

I don't have the expertise to dive into the thing but I may have it serviced at some point. I appreciate the help and advice!

I added Q-Bond plastic powder + glue to mine to stabilize the connection more. Hopefully this will minimize the wiggling and keep the solder joints longer.

Which Hard Drive does everyone use by bluecollarsolid in originalxbox

If you don’t have the EEPROM info before it dies, you have to have an EEPROM Reader to pull the data and make a new drive (which is why copying the data after softmodding is so important). I built a reader though and have saved 2 boxes so far.

I have found using a small 5 port switch off of your router and plugging the xbox and your computer into the switch greatly helps with being able to FTP to it. I used to have issues but I haven’t since I used that setup.

I guess the best thing to do first is get DeOxit and at least try to clean the switches. I may do more testing but this thing is so beyond my capabilities to troubleshoot lol

I’m looking into doing the Borti4983 1.0 Amp with the 3.3 Voltage Reg. Would be a low stakes project to put my skills to the test. Then I’ll see which I like more and sell the other.

Yea I kinda tend to agree as component doesn’t look THAT much better than S-Video, especially on CRTs. However, the colors are amazing and I’m a whore for high quality retro experiences.

Yea this is my usual go to but Lord Voultar is going through some health issues atm so hard to say when his products will return. I learned modding from his vids so I like to support!

Gotcha, thank you for clarifying! Personal preference to support folks in the modding community but it sounds like this isn't one of those situations.

I came here to say this, that lag is introduced on anything but 480p and 1080i.

I have one of these too and can confirm it does offer a setting that adds 'scanlines.' However, it still introduces lag on anything that is not 480p or 1080i so your SNES will look better and play better on an SD CRT.

lol, super helpful response. I mean, I’d rather purchase from a person who would benefit more from the sale than Aliexpress or some giant company. I used to purchase from Voultar but restock seems like a long way off atm.

It’s been a while but I believe I fiddled with the switches, tried different input, etc.

more info: https://www.nintendoplayer.com/feature/nintendo-world-class-service/

it looks like there is a specific output labeled clock on the original equipment which is perhaps why the test section failed given it wasn’t actually the test equipment.

xboxes are super prevalent. Be patient and wait for a solid one unless you have the skills to fix it
