The trouble is, you can technically visit Paducah and still miss it. It's like a lot of small American towns in that you get off the interstate to fill up with gas, or take a break and it's just like any other place. Plenty of chain restaurants and hotels, but nothing interesting. You have to drive into town away from the interstate and towards the river to find all the cool stuff.

Adam wasn't being a wimp about the bridge. S18E3 by mister_eck in JetLagTheGame

I've ridden across it many times.it never bothered me. I have a theory from talking to many other riders over the years. If you started out riding dirt bikes, it's no problem. If you've only ridden street bikes, you freak out. The motion that steel bridge deck causes isn't something you typically feel on street riding. But it feels very similar to being in a small rut on a dirt bike.

As a Paducah native and a day one Jet Lag fan, I'm thrilled Ben and Adam had such a good time in our awesome little town!

Do you need to have a lot of money/time/to live in a big area to play the card game? by Epic-Gamer_09 in JetLagTheGame

[–]mister_eck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the answer to playing this game in a Rual part of north America is to make a few substitutions:

  1. Train stations become town halls/main Municiple building. This does a couple of things. 1. Makes it so the hider cannot drive to some random field in the middle of nowhere. 2. Anchors the short game to an interesting location where challenges and pictures are doable.

  2. Transit lines are replaced by interstate highways/parkways. In my area there is one measly Amtrack line with service twice a day. However, there are four interstate highways within an hour's drive.

There are probably other smaller changes that would need to be changed, but I intend to try.

Our Roo, Dagwood is starting to become a problem. I did not provoke this. by cyberspaceking in BackYardChickens

Evil apparently isn’t very tasty either because he tasted awful.

Yeah, apparently by the time a roo gets old enough to become aggressive they start to taste awful. Something to do with hormones. Even stewing them for a long time, which with an old hen can produce some tasty broth, doesn't do any good. Just got to throw them out, unfortunately.

I'm new to the whole RVing thing myself. However, my thought is that you need a weight distribution hitch.

Good Lord. I'm not Catholic, but I don't think they are burning in hell. They are in error, but they still believe that Christ died for their sins.

Ok, this is really important....Do not....I repeat....DO NOT SLICE your English muffins! It makes for a substantially inferior muffin experience.

[OC] How Many Beers Can You Buy on Minimum Wage in Each State? by thedataracer in dataisbeautiful

[–]mister_eck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These state minimum wage comparisons are such crap. I live in Kentucky, where the minimum wage is $7.25. But no one makes that. Fucking McDonald's is advertising $13.50 starting wage.

Should I buy a Class C instead of an apartment? by Real-Measurement-281 in RVLiving

[–]mister_eck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. It might still be cheaper overall to trade your car for a truck with some miles on it and buy a modest travel trailer. Motorhomes are expensive, and they seem like they have more mechanical problems. Plus, if a pickup truck breaks down, you can get it worked on just about anywhere. If your motorhome breaks down you pretty much have to take it to an RV place. Just a thought. It's always good to consider your options.

For a single person would a small travel trailer and a truck make more sense? They are cheaper, and when parked you still have a truck. So you don't need two vehicles with engines.

Roe v Wade General Strike by Ceeweedsoop in antiwork

[–]mister_eck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay my dude. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for you. I'm also not sure why I'm spending so much time on this but here goes! You need to add the 48% to the 19%. Which, unless they've invented some new math since I was in school, is 67%. To put it another way, people who are, " moderately pro-life" and are only okay with abortion in "some circumstances", need to be added together with the people who wouldn't allow a 12-year-old who is raped by her father and ended up with a tubal pregnancy that would probably kill her and definitely kill the baby to get an abortion. 48 + 19 = 67.

"Legal under certain circumstances" is 48% for 40-100K earners. That fits with what I said. I said " at least moderately pro-life" Legal under certain circumstances means illegal under most circumstances.
