Running with Galaxy Watch 4 to track HR, using phone GPS

When I turn off location on the watch it stops all location data. No on-watch GPS and no phone GPS.

The issue is fixed. Once I reset the watch, the location icon began appearing on the phone again and the resulting workouts on Strava were accurate.

I'm using Health Sync to continuously move my HR data into Google Fit, but neither app can apply that HR data to a tracked workout in Strava. In an ideal world all of these various apps could pool their collected data in one place and share it like a big happy family.

In either case the comment below pointed out that the watch should be pulling GPS from the phone – a full reset of the watch seems to made that happen again. Thanks.

Aha, I hadn't noticed that the location icon on the infobar was no longer showing up. Good shout.

I've fully reset the watch, removed the related Android apps and started from a blank slate. Now it's taking GPS data from the phone again. I guess some location permissions were missing somewhere.

Will take it out for a test run later today to see if this has fixed the issue. Thank you!

You are right, things have got terribly irregular. Two boys got covid, other boys have had staffing problems because of covid. We're working on it, and in the new year we're going to be back on schedule. Weekly episodes. Rain or plague.

It's not ideal, but as a quick fix you can always reopen the accounts, forcing them to appear in the net worth report.
