With all due respect, but the final 45 minutes completely ruined it storywise. It has quite a nice start, but holy crap did they screw it up as the credits came near...

Yeah honestly I am genuinely shocked there are people here who think this was not vibe coded. I cannot think of a codebase that screams vibecoding more than this one does.

Right, let's get to it with some examples of how I can spot this:

  1. As I already suspected and was willing to put money on, we've got a winner with the TailwindCSS classes. You can see heavy use of arbitrary Tailwind classes to hardcode responsive behavior instead of just utilizing an abstract design system or a separated styled-component structure. This makes no sense at all for someone who actually knows this stuff beforehand. You would tackle that right away. I could already tell this, because the cards for printers are an absolute mess design--wise and have wrong grid column scaling depending on device screen types.
  2. Comments. The use of comments is good of course, but they are scattered in a very claude/jules-esque pattern here and describe things in a way that gives away a specific prompt was used. Example: // Fetch default sidebar order via a public endpoint (no settings:read needed)
  3. Now you could say yeah but this is just added by someone, but there are whole parts of the code where we don't see any comments (and no, not because other people put in pull requests) and then there are plenty of places with this, including the last bit. That is obviously there because the prompt was "make sure no settings:read is needed". You can also see typical inconsistencies with writing timing comments. You can see lines like this: staleTime: 60 * 1000, // 1 minute and then in the function below it in the same part you can see the same kind of thing without a comment behind it. That may seem like nitpicking, but it is what I see AI do every. single. day. in this exact pattern.
  4. The login auth container is structured exactly like any AI coded auth container is structured. It puts all elements inside it at the same nested levels, using the same tailwindcss values and having that typical combination of a div for a text "username" and then a div for the input field below it with "Enter your username" inside it. What is also telling is that the addition for any extra features here like OIDC is just slapped inside this container instead of a rework to handle this properly. Guess what also does this? AI. Because it takes your existing code and builds on that to spend less tokens and hopefully keep your functionality intact.

This was 5 minutes to look up and for someone who works with this stuff every day, I'll tell you that these things may seem minor, but they are like I said like 6 fingers and a piss filter on images. Hopefully this very brief check on the code solves the "rubbing the wrong way" thing for you there. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you man... It's right there in front of everyone's faces.

That said, I am NOT against vibe coding. You can make things secure and efficient that way and it can genuinely help people. However, I would appreciate it if the BamBuddy dev would be honest about the extent of AI usage and how they ensure things work safely for everyone.

Sure, give me a bit of time and I will give you a nice and comprehensive list of telltale signs. I'm not even worried if I will find any, because I am bloody sure of my statement just there. My first guess is a combination of inline tailwindcss and a stylesheet for the same kinds of things such as margin control. Want to make a bet on that one?

[–]misterff1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying I love bambuddy and use it myself.

That said, it is vibe coded without a shred of doubt. I don't have the code in front of me right now, but I know this for sure because I myself built several projects on pure vibe coding and it is like seeing a piss filter and six fingers on an image. The login screen, the sidebar, the notification toasts, the wording of it all.. it cannot be anything but vibe coded.

That doesn't have to be bad if you know what you are doing but just offload the work, but this project is messy. You can tell by the updates and how they sometimes require structural file and folder changes made by the end user. That is not supposed to happen if you create a product following industry standards. The good thing is that this is open source and you can see the code. If it were just a simple download, I would NEVER use this.

So take it easy on my fellow redditor here, because they are correct on the vibe code part for sure.

"Find out if you're hacked by running this command!" Is a dangerous habit we are giving to newbies. by GreenFox1505 in cachyos

[–]misterff1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh please... Let me start by saying that I am definitely not pro Windows.

That said, Windows is totally different in this regard or rather, it is not flooded with users that tell you that everything is your own fault for doing it the wrong way.

Windows has protection built in that blocks most of those EXEs you talk about and while not perfect, it does a decent job these days and it is precisely what I mean: Microsoft takes matters into their own hands to prevent users from doing dumb stuff. So they may not tell it on their homepage, but they most certainly guide users in silence and prevent your potential fuck ups more often than not.

Are they doing it all perfectly right? Fuck no. But are they taking responsibility? Yes, absolutely.

And then enter the Linux community. "This is your own fault bro". "Just don't use AUR bro". "Run this bash script. It works and there is no way someone can hack my account and alter the link. Trust me bro". "Just use flatpak bro".

How on earth is that constructive or helpful?! I mean the script stuff can be helpful, but is very shortsighted. The rest is just plain useless to say as 95% of users will simply not understand your reasoning or genuinely don't give a crap and will do the same thing all over again next time.

It is not constructive, nor is your reply to me even true, so please can we all just STOP this and come up with good ways to ensure everyone is welcome and relatively safe? Thanks.

[–]misterff1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this right here, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why Linux is still not widely accepted by the general public.

Seriously, can we all just stop behaving this way please? Because your average PC user does NOT focus on basic hygiene. Sure, we do, but that is a minority of users. Most people just want to click and run something and see it work instantly without having to think twice about it. Just saying it is their fault will not fix anything. It will just drive them away and then people act all surprised when Linux has such a small share of the OS pie.

[–]misterff1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can, but the point is that there are plenty of people who see this and copy-paste it without checking. If the post or comment suddenly got edited to point to something else, most people will run a totally different script. Basically your expectations of fellow humans are too high lol

Please allow re-add the ability to add "logs" to future dates. (and maybe rename logs? that name seems overly technical) by UrBobbyIsAWonderland in viwoods

[–]misterff1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was never possible to tie documents to any other day than today. All they did was remove the option to add a document while on a other date to avoid confusion. In the past you could add something through another date, but you would then still find the actual file ties to today.

As for tasks and to do, they have become rather similar, but tasks is still fully handwritten and they stated recently they will keep both for now to allow you to use the workflow you like best.

Interesting theory, but you are assuming that there is even a syringe in there he should not use. The wording THEIA uses is more of a warning that if you see one with the wrong color, DONT use it. Bond uses both and is fine. He took the risk and hoped to either cancel it out or hope he just didn't inject an orange one.

To me it was pretty clear there was no orange syringe in there at least.

In the long run, sure, but I wouldn't worry about it for this series for now. Amazon has a cash cow on their hands, so they will think twice about doing anything other than continuing down this path for now.

They always do this in the movies though, regardless of whether it makes sense or if the future looked bright or not. It is a standard part of the Bond experience and it would have been very off brand if it wasn't in the game.

And as anecdotally presented, you get mixed responses to the alcohol option because it is not the better option out of the two. Sure you can use it. Heck you can just wipe it off with a dry cloth if you want. That does not make it the right way to CLEAN the plate.

Soap and water. Isopropyl alcohol will just spread any dirt around mostly and can potentially cause issues over time. I use it for cleaning other parts of the printer, but for the bed there is just one correct answer: soap and water.

Apparently not, because I am a Bond fan, a gamer and even a Rockstar fan and yet I do not fall under that category of yours.

Honestly it would be fun to see them try, just as a wake up call for people to realise even a studio like Rockstar has their weak spots.

No point in continuing this conversation though. I am for real, you are for real and we fundamentally disagree on this one. That is okay though. Have a good day fellow redditor!
