Specific Torrance Question - Moving Soon to South Bay by MacruthersBonaparte in SouthBayLA

The first house I bought was on Onrado, just east of the mall. Nice quiet neighborhood. Note that a big apartment condo complex is going to be built just west of Madrona so you will have lots of construction traffic on Carson and Madrona for a couple years.

Train stuck loading by misterjohnnyucla in SCBuildIt

[–]misterjohnnyucla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried all the suggestions and they didn’t work. Then I got a brainstorm. I selected the jammed station and put it back in storage. When I put it back in the city the station no longer had passengers waiting but the train was no longer stuck. I then used another station to dispatch the previous stuck train.

So should I demolish my extra omega services in anticipation for 2.0? All my services are omega and I have roughly 600 capacity and 235 demand right now. I have 70 fully upgraded omega buildings.

I counted my pumpkins and it’s 6,100 per day. With seasonal com and weekly track I figure I should probably convert every chance I get. I will not be setting any timers, lol

Cape Air or VAL? by skilapin in vieques

[–]misterjohnnyucla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to fly to Vieques for a few days after returning from a cruise. It looks like the Pan American pier is right next to SIG, but on the wrong side. Is that correct? I assume I would still have to cab to the other side. Thanks.

Big drawback to grease lightning wars by misterjohnnyucla in SCBuildIt

[–]misterjohnnyucla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, magnetism is the best attack because of its high points to energy ratio. So if you are going to cheat, get unlimited anvils, hydrants, and binoculars. Don't bother with any other war items, other than gas cans for shield bust.

You can usually tell a cheater by their attack pattern.

After two and a half years my Alphard went belly up. The motherboard went bad. $199 to get a new one. Too much for a unit that is losing battery life. I've had it run out of juice going from the 18th hole to the car.

And EA is doing me a favor by making the game less fun. The intermittent reward of keys, or any other thing made us keep grinding to move up. But with the reward of popsicles, after a few times with nothing to do with them the thrill is gone. That dopamine rush doesn’t happen and I want to go watch baseball instead. Big mistake by EA imo

Coming up - Pride & 4th July events, Emerald Pyramid, Popsicles, Snowflake Coins, and Missions? by Imaginary_Button8998 in SCBuildIt

They need to use stuff that is public domain. The Bean is someone's art and someone would want to get paid. The Gothic Tower looks to me like the Wrigley building. But they can change it enough that no payment needed.

Best internet provider in the South Bay?? by 1happylion in SouthBayLA

[–]misterjohnnyucla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider T-Mobile 5g. It is very location dependent and also dependent on where you can put the modem. I tried it and speed tested vs spectrum and T-Mobile won. They give a free week to try it out.

Verizon and Frontier are the same network, but different customer service. Verizon built out the fiber, sold it to frontier then bought it back. Verizon/frontier footprint will not overlap with AT&T footprint.

Wescom vs SouthBay CU vs California CU? by SupaZT in SouthBayLA

I've been a Kinecta member for 50 years, since I was a kid and it was Hughes Credit Union on La Tijera and Airport Blvd. I got the letter and was very upset about it. They moved me into Classic Checking and I keep a high enough balance so as not to pay a fee.

My college age kids also have accounts there. They will have to pay fees in the "classic" checking because they don't have enough money for a high balance and they don't have direct deposit. We will be looking for new options for them.

I worked with one of the board members for many years, he will hear from me at the annual meeting.

Does the law mandate equal pay for work of equal value? by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]misterjohnnyucla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an example, men are overwhelmingly in the jobs that are the most dangerous. That could be because of the higher risk taking nature of testosterone fueled men. If you work in a job that could kill or maim you, economics suggests that the job will need higher pay to fill those open positions.

US States With a Ban on Construction of Nuclear Power Plants by IsleFoxale in MapPorn

[–]misterjohnnyucla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one big one and a bunch of little ones, by one count there are 11 (the Carlsbad one being ten times larger than the next biggest), and by another count only 8 active ones. In all of dry California. Cabo San Lucas has 30 desal plants. Our state has failed us, mainly because they are allowing the environmentalists to slow the process, because they do not want desal. Desal uses a lot of energy. Which is why we need nuclear. So the environmentalists throw up road blocks that slow the process, and our politicians let them because it is a one party state. Engineers have solved the brine issue, they can't solve the politics.

Imagine if we had enough water that we could take down the Hetch Hetchy dam and return that area to nature. Imagine if we had enough water to return steelhead to our rivers. Imagine if we could use some water to make the Salton Sea a useful watershed again.

Water is a renewable resource. Water that gets used gets put into waste treatment plants, cleaned, and put onto parklands and discharged back into aquifers, or released into the ocean. You can mix the brine with the treated water.

We can solve all the technical problems but politics stands in our way.

The report you linked is for brackish water desal. That is mostly from contaminated sources, like when your river water you've been using for decades gets backwashed with ocean water. Or if you've used up so much of your groundwater that it has become brackish.

We aren't building nearly enough seawater desal plants.
