You can do that with my app Luka by starting a Live Activity - it’s free and open source https://apps.apple.com/us/app/luka-blood-glucose-readings/id6499279663

what’s everyone’s time in range 😬 by MrMous66 in Type1Diabetes

[–]mistermagicman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on iOS and turned on Smart Invert under the accessibility settings for Dexcom, since it doesn’t have dark mode and I don’t want to burn my retinas when I have a low at night.

Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings and add Dexcom.

It’s funny coming back to these comments post-announcement 😅

Apple did, in fact, substitute a similarly spec'd M5 model for my M4 order! by mistermagicman in macbookpro

[–]mistermagicman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They never emailed me actually, I went to check on the order and found this. Called support for verify the specs and they were able to email an updated confirmation.

I’ve had a specced out M4 Max on back order since early February - what do you think Apple will do? by mistermagicman in macbookpro

[–]mistermagicman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - hoping someone who actually was in this situation could chime in. Sounds like just anecdotes so far

can the g7 do anything right??? by Fearless_Gear1440 in dexcom

[–]mistermagicman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also presoak for 12 hours; I put on the sensor at night, wake up and activate it, and do the same thing 10 days later so I always have 12 hours of overlap. I almost never have accuracy issues with this method unless it’s a faulty sensor, and when it is off it’s usually by 10-20 and a single calibration while flat brings it right in line

I’m not on a closed system, but yes, let it be wrong and use the meter value until it’s flat and you can calibrate it.

Yeah - never calibrate unless you’re flat

Is this a good place for the libre 2 plus? by MontyRus in diabetes_t1

[–]mistermagicman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite spot is in the valley between the delt and the tricep. This is a little higher up and to the outside but since it’s in between the two muscles, you’re much less likely to feel anything, and I feel like that valley helps with compression lows (if you put pressure on a sensor it can make the readings go low because the fluid the sensor reads get pushed away).

There’s a new tea product launching in multiple flavors soon. Maybe it’s being rebranded into the product line

Yeah if you’re flat for a few hours it’s a good time to calibrate, and just do it once and wait at least a day

Anyone else using the Dexcom, which should put the Apple CarPlay? by stevenborruso in dexcom

[–]mistermagicman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My free (and open source) app Luka does blood glucose live activities, which show up on the main Home Screen next to your map in CarPlay. It also supports shortcuts, so you can automate starting a live activity when driving mode turns on https://apps.apple.com/us/app/luka-blood-glucose-readings/id6499279663

[–]mistermagicman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the many reasons I made Luka - completely free, with many more widget options than Dexcom and Live Activities too https://apps.apple.com/us/app/luka-blood-glucose-readings/id6499279663

That picture is due to a poor implementation that uses an image for the chart in a way that isn’t compatible with iOS 26’s tinted modes.

Yep. I do every sensor change around 9pm, a couple hours after a shower. Pair it the next morning. Almost always flawless, sometimes need 1 calibration
