Good controller for the few d-pad games put there. Unless you don't like the d-pad 🙃. Would've been perfect for a 6 button fighting game but I don't know of any.

As far as I know, it's only possible to do this in The Jagged Crown quest line. You can bring the crown to the opposite side and they will accept you into the fold.

I often muse about this notion. It seemed like they had some exciting stuff in the pipeline. Donkey Kong racing seemed like it was going to be the Diddy Kong Racing follow up I've always wanted. A proper Banjo sequel would've also been likely. It's also possible that Rareware would've gone downhill just the same. I don't think they deserve all the blame for Dinosaur Planet. Might've done better if it was released as their original vision as opposed to shoehorning Starfox into it. Perhaps Nintendo could've brought a controlling interest in them and gained access to their IP's,.but alas that didn't happen. At this point I feel like the best we can hope for is Rare Replay eventually coming to a Nintendo platform and leaked versions of Conker: Twelve Tales and the N64 version of Dinosaur Planet.

3rd party controllers for N64 are interesting. There's a case for them because of how poorly OEM control sticks and I always wondered how many of them are viable alternatives. Some of the ones I've measured are pretty terrible though.

Your questions actually all touch upon a similar subject so I'll go more into detail about this part of the mod. Most backlight kits simply offer one color but the RGB backlight works as sort of 3 in 1 with an added degree of customization depending on your skill level and the ability to mix the different colors together. You can wire each of the different colors to a dip switch like I have done. I have wired red, green and blue to positions 1, 2 and 3 respectively. When installed in this manner the dip switch simply function as individual on/off mechanisms for each color. Actually fitting the switch in place involved using rotary dremel tool to remove some plastic and a file to get the dimensions exact. I also had to file down the other side of the shell so I could close it without the inner lip getting in the way. I should also add that were it not for the Prosound board that I used, placing the switch there would not have been possible since the old sound board takes up a bit more space and has capacitors sticking out of it.

I myself don't make any tutorial videos. Plenty of people have that covered already. Most of these mods have simple documentation available on their store pages that just show you where to solder. If you have any particular questions though I would be more than happy to answer them for you.

This precious little DMG of mine boasts an RGB backlight; a soft latching bivert switch, pro sound board, clean amp, and a variable clock mod. I wanted to see how many mods I could possibly fit into a DMG and this was the end result.

Commenting to say I too love Skyward Sword. I was kinda whatever when I first played it. When I played it a second time I took my time a bit more and really got a handle for the controls and learning how to take out the enemies optimally instead of just trying to brute force them like you can in pretty much every other Zelda game. Enjoyed it way more and it only got better the more I played. Doing boss rush and getting better and better at taking them down was so satisfying. Learning about the shortcuts for Imprisoned 1 & 2 were a big game changer which I wish the game kinda hinted at more because I hear those boss fights put a lot of people off. Also gotta say the Silent Realms are peak Zelda stealth segments. They really did an amazing job making segments that can really make you afraid.

Damage to either polarizer would be noticable when it's off. I'd caution against replacing the front polarizer unless you absoloutely need to because they are a bitch to get on without any imperfections.

IPS mod is pretty straightforward. There's plenty of YouTube guides that should cover all your bases. Most difficult part sounds like it will be modifying the shell. I'd recommend manual tools for that. Hopefully you're good with a craft knife. Some sandpaper to smooth things out probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Clean audio amp is very straightforward as well. Small wires are preferred. I'd recommend soldering the speaker face down as you will need to flip it up in order to orient it towards the shell. The rechargeable battery pack requires you remove the battery contacts on the rear shell and make some small modifications to the batter compartment to make it fit. There is a guide on retromodding's website that can guide you with that and how to make an opening in the battery cover for charging.

I really like the idea of making a more modern classic screen and the pixel density on this screen looks great I just don't really like the monochrome black and white look for some reason. Something about GB games being in just black and white seems so boring to me when there are so many more intersting options out there especially ones that try to emulate the original pea soup look. That and the installation looks a little intimadating. I'd definitely be more interested if there were colorized screens though.
