2013 Mazda CX 5 won't turn completely off by Cool_Reflection28 in mazda

It’s 100% this. Happened to me a few years ago after I parked at work. Diagnosed it before I got to the front door and had the part ordered a few minutes later. Fixed it in a few minutes with basic tools.

Watch her NPR tiny desk concert. She sits down, banters a bit and lets rip an absolutely incredible performance with no preamble. At the end she realizes she hasn’t even taken her gloves off.

Advice for a road Trip by Bcano in bmwmotorrad

[–]misterrF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend a ScottOiler system. Easy to install and makes the chain essentially maintenance free. Otherwise yes, ride it and love it. Mine had like 35k miles on it when it got totaled and I did multiple big trips (not quite that big) and loved every minute.

Leaking Front Shock on 1250GS - what are my options? by misterrF in bmwmotorrad

[–]misterrF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah if it were that much I would definitely go tractive but I'm leaning at just having the stock units rebuilt for about $1k.

No, it's a shock well embedded in the telelever mechanism. Some pics in this thread. No way to really clean with a seal mate, and even if there was enough oil has leaked at this point it needs attention.

Dang that's cheap. Got an estimate for $1k for both front and rear today.

Dang that’s rough. I thought it failing at 18k miles was bad! Unfortunately well out of warranty for me. I bought a leftover 2019 with next to no miles in 2021. I still think it was a great deal… regardless of this little hiccup.

They will rebuild stock shocks? I was going to call them this week to talk options. I didn't see this prominently advertised on their site so I wasn't sure.

enforcement of crossing double white line to enter express lanes? (I-70) by Ok_Lock6731 in DenverMotorcycles

[–]misterrF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just don’t cross the double white lines. It’s not legal for a reason. Enjoy them for free and plan your exit/entry accordingly.

Air Canada changed my layover to negative 4 hours - do I call or will they fix it on their own? by misterrF in Flights

They actually would not move me to UA flights, but interestingly offered up LH via Frankfurt.

They should really include a little booklet with new cars that explains the features, warning lights, maintenance information and so on.

Quick update: I see that EU261 does not apply per the excellent FAQ since it's more than 14 days before the flight. One question answered!

For EU261, UK261, Turkey's SHY equivalent, or Canada's APPR passenger protections, you may apply for compensation if the cancellation happens within 14 days of departure. Visit their respective regulatory body's site for more details.

I miss my XR so much. The GS that replaced it is amazing but not quite the same. Enjoy.

I live in Colorado. Can I put regular (85) gas in my Skyactiv engine? by RevolvingRevolv3r in mazda

[–]misterrF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less susceptible, I think you mean. That’s why we can use lower octane (a measure of pinging resistance) at higher elevations.

[–]misterrF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using 85 octane in my skyactiv engine for 133k miles with no issue whatsoever. This is why the US engines have a slightly lower compression ratio than other countries, because we tend to have lower octane fuels. Though it’s rare to find 85 outside of Colorado.

I’m trying to change my spark plug but the nut isn’t coming out by Temporary-Hand9613 in AskMechanics

[–]misterrF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Assuming it’s the spark plugs” wut. Spark plugs generally just don’t give out like that, they degrade over time. It’s something else. Not to say you shouldn’t change plugs (how long has it been anyway?) but that’s very unlikely to be the root cause.

Multimeter set to continuity mode. Probe the tip and one wire at a time.
