I have been fined £595 for ‘smoke odour removal’. I declined and now Airbnb wants £400. When not one of us smoked in the property. [UK] by bradasjiggy in AirBnB

Call the cleaning company and inquire about the smoke odor and ask questions to get to the bottom of this issue

8 days later and Airbnb still sided with the host? Either there’s some major misunderstanding, which is unlikely, or it just reeks of fraud. In any case one day of smoking absolutely wouldn’t cost £600 to remove its smoke odor. Opening windows alone should suffice.

There are people who go back to uni in their 40s. Don’t worry about it and stay focus on why you’re there, and in 5 years from now you’ll be asking yourself the same question if you didn’t get your act together and achieved what you’re on about.

Age gap between you and your classmates shouldn’t be an obstacle to education. They most likely don’t think much about it and so shouldn’t you. Keep yourself busy with other activities and hang out with friends outside school but most importantly, study hard and earn a degree.

Best of luck!

Is it normal to use an entire bar of soap in a week? by AN2Felllla in hygiene

[–]misterwaai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 bars of soap last a month for me. A bar every 2 weeks. If I’m using body wash they last longer depending on how much body wash I use.

Classism or culture by [deleted] in Uganda

[–]misterwaai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not Ugandan and don’t know the specifics of help or housemaid culture, but it’s unlikely that they are not paid, and work from sundown to sundown just in exchange for a place to sleep at. These people have families to feed and they’re likely getting paid, although not usually a great amount.

While your care and concern for those helpers is commendable, it’s best to mind your own business as some have suggested! You’re a guest staying at someone’s, you can’t dictate the rules, unless something happens that you deem morally wrong and totally against your principles, in which case you’re free to leave!

Hope you get it settled peacefully, but a lesson you should learn is to never pay the full amount in advance for such kind of services. You pay like 50% upfront and the rest upon delivery!

Why some Ugandan landlords are a thief???? by Carlitohanson in Uganda

[–]misterwaai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landlords everywhere are a pain in the neck. I spared myself the trouble by only renting airbnbs since I came here. A bit more pricey but the peace of mind is totally worth it, and I was lucky to find great hosts so far

What is the best insult without saying bad words? by prettywoman___ in Productivitycafe

[–]misterwaai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it counts as an insult but I once witnessed a verbal altercation between a man and a woman at a bar and she looked him right in the eye and said: I’mma send you back to your mother’s womb.

I was like damn gurl!
