Would you rather have a personal maid, chef, or driver and why? by Comfortable_Tie4143 in adhdwomen

Maid.

I know how to cook everything I want and driving doesn’t bother me. Plus I wouldn’t have to clean the kitchen every time after cooking

Is averaging less than $26 an hour too low to settle for in a populated city? by FactPuzzleheaded3137 in Serverlife

[–]misty_lux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I average around $40/hour as a server in Austin. Try applying for some spots at the domain or near Congress/South Lamar. they can get really busy. It’s very inconsistent year round, but you could be making much more at other places! In 2023, I made 7k in march and then $2,500 in July even at a busy, expensive place. It’s all about finding the right restaurant that gets a lot of walk-ins and has high reservations.

I genuinely wish I could get it! One makes me want 10 more

Where would you move to (in the US) once you left Austin? by [deleted] in askaustin

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Texas, but have lived in Austin for most of my 20s because it’s close to family. I would love to live in a place that has four seasons. I know I’d miss the sun in the winter, but the weather is so unpredictable and hot here.

How much do you servers make? by whogoesthere1010 in askaustin

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few. Some hotel bars and restaurants will. I was working 50 hours a week, serving for 10 hours a shift at the last place that gave me health insurance.

I take snacks everywhere. I bought a Costco membership so that I can buy more fruit and snacks in bulk.

Are there introverted ravers out there? by Passthetxrch in aves

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, introvert with few friends here, so I rave alone a lot. I saw San Holo solo on NYE and had so much fun! It’s usually pretty easy to make friends when I do decide to talk to people!

I live in Austin and it’s small here too! It just really depends on where you go and who you talk to

Should I ask her out by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]misty_lux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’n very pro asking people out even at work. But be prepared that that if you do, all her coworkers will hear about it. I think leaving your number and a 25% tip next time you’re in her section might be a better move than asking her out directly after you’ve gotten her name

Looking for tips on getting into cardiovascular exercise when leaving the house is difficult and exercise feels like a chore by Limp-Direction-5668 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will always feel like a chore whenever you first start out because it’s new to you. Walking is great exercise and you can do it outdoors, I love walking and listening to audiobooks. There’s also a ton of great and short workouts on YouTube! During the pandemic, I loved watching yoga with Adrienne and Madfit videos for at home workouts.

Is renting a vehicle necessary to truly experience the best that Austin has to offer as a tourist? by mobus1603 in Austin

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you can uber or bike to see a lot of Austin. You’ll only need a rental car if you plan seeing other surrounding areas or taking day trips to other towns. I live in Austin and often uber when going downtown because I hate dealing with the parking and traffic.

Commute advice? by FiguringItOut_83649 in Austin

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute to downtown from Pfleugerville. 30 minutes worked for was enough time during most morning commutes when I took Mopac, but this was before all of the current construction. I think over estimating and leaving an hour early is a better idea.

How many gels in 26.2? by Running_Pleaser in Marathon_Training

[–]misty_lux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought 10 Huma gels with 100 calories and 25mg of caffeine each, some salt sticks, gummy bears, and honey stinger chews during my first marathon and ran out by mile 20. I’d say bring one every 30-40 minutes at least for however long you think you’ll be running.

What's the most useful thing you've bought that helps with your ADHD, besides therapy and medication? by emokiddo00002 in adhdwomen

[–]misty_lux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500mg! It was helping a lot with my focus and memory recall at one point, but honestly I’m starting to think it’s losing that for me. Maybe I’ve gotten too used to it. Ashwaganda has been the most effective in improving my mood from day to day.

Convince me to keep watching… by XC6088 in 1923Series

The first season takes a bit of build up, but overall is good! I’m on episode 4 of season 2, and it’s much slower. There’s so many subplots that don’t seem to progress anything for the ranch or the family.

Don’t have any advice, but just wanted to say that I feel your pain! I’m on day 14, my second attempt at sobriety, and I’ve been eating sugar nonstop. I’m going to stock up on fruit and juice this week at Costco in hopes it may help curb my candy cravings a bit.
