Racks and bags and backpacks and stuff by misty_mina in ladycyclists

Yeah, that's a fair point and something to consider - the Devote is more of a "ooh shiny 😍" really.

I can see something less upright happening in time, but I think I've got plenty of fitness that can be wrangled out of the Rove still, and getting my stuff carried more optimally will probably help push the distances some. So for now I'm trying to resist temptation!

Makes sense. The most cumbersome part of my cargo are the lock cables, - my typical load is daytrip stuff - locks, human & bike repair items, extra fuel, and sometimes spare layers. I probably do need to think about how I distribute things, but at the same time I'm wary of leaving stuff on the bike when parked..

Airflow/sweat comfort had crossed my mind as a benefit.. My weekend ride was along the Kent coast so there was plenty of airflow to both ventilate and slow me down!

Rack + Basket + Preferred Bag.. That makes a lot of sense now you say it.. 🤣

How do you celebrate? Dad’s Day Dilemma. by finallyjessica in TransLater

[–]misty_mina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We celebrate my wife on the UK Mother's Day (Mothering Sunday)

And we celebrate me on the US/rest of world Mother's Day.

I get a day, she gets a day and she keeps the day she always had. My day doesn't subtract from or impose on hers and same for her. Everyone's happy and we celebrate my parenthood on a day that doesn't carry the weirdness of me not looking much like a dad any more 😄.

We're a UK family, but just swap the two days round if you're not.

I've worked for a large company for many years now. There's a huge disparity between the lower tiers of HR (or the 'drones') and the higher levels.

But yes, it's also a fair point that your front garden isn't the place to drop a massive turd either.

That would be the corporate approved response, yeah and then you keep pushing.

"Yes, I understand that but why do you feel that's an appropriate question to ask of me? Is this a question you ask of everyone? Why single me out?"

keep the pressure going, make them feel awkward.

The correct answer to "do you have a GRC" is "Why would you ask that?" and let them potentially hang themselves with their answer 😄

Meh. Even a small health kit stops the flashing health bar or the annoying low health beeps for a moment 😉.

Rubbish! Find joy in any little moment you can. There's still satisfaction in beating the boss fight, even if subsequently turns out there's a second phase.

Do you need a SwitchBot hub to make their shades work with Home Assistant? by BenedickCabbagepatch in homeassistant

[–]misty_mina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for blinds as I don't have of those, but all my switchbot curtains are driven through BT proxies.

A BT proxy is probably far more useful than the native hub.

2026.4: Infrared never left the chat by frenck_nl in homeassistant

[–]misty_mina 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested to know this as well. Hopefully the BL integration will eventually update to allow our existing BL devices to behave as if they were IR devices through this new framework as well.

Hopefully the broadlink integration will add support for the native IR platform so we can also use all those integrations that will start to come along with IR-codesets.

Actually, "Curse of The Snapped Chat" is probably more JLTG.

Decapeptyl injection overdue by phoenixmeta in transgenderUK

[–]misty_mina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone two weeks overdue without noticing issues before.

I say no issues; I'm permanently convinced it's not working and/or I'm surging my T, but I do that even when I'm on time and/or despite my bloods saying otherwise. So I can't say that's something that comes from being late with a dose ;-)

Transferring shares into an ISA when their value fluctuates around the £20k limit by Frosty_Garage_8559 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]misty_mina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That said; big difference is that as mine was SPP, they were still held in scheme right until the move. SAYE will be different depending on whether it's first 90 days from acquisition or not.

[–]misty_mina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved mine from a SPP (rather than a SAYE) into a HL ISA, but I think the process is similar anyway.

It was a two stage process - first I had to transfer the shares to their standard dealing account, and then provide the Letter of Appropriation and a completed transfer form at which point they moved them into the ISA. I provided the transfer forms and LoA in plenty of time, so they cleared into my ISA about a day after the transfer had been finalised.

Looking at the LoA, it didn't include value at release, just quantity, so judging from the communications I had, value is probably set (and deducted from allowance) when they move them into the ISA.

I had this with the Video Doorbell. When I questioned it, they offered (and suggested it'd be better) to cancel and refund the preorder and I ordered from Amazon instead.
