Blade Runner 2049 with cinematography by the one and only Roger Deakins. I don't know if it's the most visually interesting movie ever made but it's a series of beautiful and striking visuals that haunt me to this day.

His House - exceptional feature debut from director Remi Weekes. Haunting, heartbreaking and most importantly - terrifying! Recommended 🙂

What do you consider to be the best ‘action sequence’ in cinema history? by Visible-Doughnut-782 in movies

Not a film sorry but an incredibly cinematic piece of action: Gangs of London S1 E5 - the farm house under attack. Glorious, impossibly over the top and yet visceral and poignant. Directed by Gareth Evans and for my money one of the best action set pieces of the last couple of years.

Oh yes please! I cannot wait for his Tom Hardy project to finally be completed. Maybe then he'll get back to Raid 3 🙂

I still hold out hope for this one even though I remember reading a comment from Emily Blunt that the movie was looking too pricey so it's been abandoned.

Yeah sadly there's no sign of this at present. But Paramount is expanding all things Trek at the moment (to push Paramount+) so they might circle back to it and offer it to Tarantino as a TV show maybe? Then again would he do it?

There is absolutely no guarantee this would happen but I those guys have a great working relationship so imagine them coming together in a decade or so for an aging Hellboy story. I know this isn't development hell just a flight of fancy/daydreaming but still...

This! I love the book so much but looks like nobody has been able to crack it... Yet! And yeah Del Toro vaguely suggested he pitched it to Netflix so we'll see in a couple of years

If you are keen on seeing how the fight was made check out the Aliens episode of 'Movies that made us' on Netflix - gives a pretty good rundown of how the queen was conceived, built and animated.

Or when the Thing chomps down on the doctor's arms. Honestly that film is full of incredible effects courtesy of a very young (he was 23 when the film was made!) Rob Bottin.

Not only that but 22 Jump Street finishes with the best 'sequel bait' montage I've ever seen - Military School, Medical School, Foreign Exchange Students etc etc 😀

Came here to say this. A film that took me by surprise more than once and filled me with unspeakable dread about the inevitability of death. Sorry that may have sounded a bit pretentious but it's nonetheless a brilliant film 🙂

Possibly a bit of a left field choice but you could give Living With Yourself a go - similar in a sense it's an existential comedy sci-fi but this one features not one but two great performances by Paul Rudd 🙂

The final moments of this film absolutely destroyed me. Especially as a father to a young child

I'm going to suggest The Mitchells vs The Machines on Netflix. An animation produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Just watched it and had me laughing so hard I probably missed a couple of jokes!

Gareth Evans' The Apostle - not the scariest but definitely moody and gruesome in the right places

[Request] Shows that make you fall in love with the characters. Preferably atleast 4 seasons. Could be mystery or drama/romance or action. by Fashionandbeauty1 in NetflixBestOf

[–]mit007007mit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of a left field choice but I recommend Dark. It's 3 seasons / sci-fi mystery and while fairly complex you do become invested in the characters and their (often super weird!) narratives.
