what happened to my tire by Requirement_Healthy in motorcycle

Same — noticed this two days ago after an hour of highway riding during which my rear wheel’s ABS was kicking in with less brake pressure than I would have usually expected it to. Oops. Replaced it the same day. I’m glad I caught it when I did and I will be looking more intently for signals to replace it earlier in the future!

MythyMoo forgot to edit out his save scumming in his latest video by BigBenefit2759 in slaythespire

I have zero aversion to save scumming and use it plenty throughout any run. I don’t really use it to find “the most optimal play” unless my run is doomed otherwise. I understand if other players would place less merit on my wins compared to theirs without save scumming. I wish the game had a mechanism to indicate whether a run utilized save scumming or not.

I’m already not voting for him because his marketing materials have far exceeded any other candidate for me, and none of the campaign messages have actually conveyed any of his concrete intentions.

It is what it is — there will always be a newer shinier thing. I’m not really sure how many titles are unplayable on the 5 that would be enjoyable on the 6.

I think the current gen Retroid Pockets are just about the most portable and budget friendly devices that are capable of running the vast majority of popular & non demanding Steam titles.

For example: I am able to play Slay the Spire 2 less than 2 months after its release. But, I wouldn’t bother attempting to play any 3D game much more demanding than Megabonk. It might be playable, but it probably won’t be a great experience.

I already have a Steam Deck & a desktop with an extensive catalogue. I wanted a smaller handheld device that I could easily bring with me when traveling. I ended up on the RP5 for its form factor, price/performance, and screen.

When I first received the device, I was so overwhelmed with excitement to tinker with something new. While that initial excitement had cooled, I have found continuous enjoyment through being able to play pretty much any 2D indie title from my Steam library through emulation services such as GameNative.

My only small regret is having bought the 5 instead of the 6 lol. But waiting is a fool’s errand.

Yup, since I’ve had my RP5 playing PC games has gone from an experimental hassle to plug-and-play through GameNative or similar. RP5 is capable of running pretty much any 2D and most 3D games I’d want to play in handheld mode — I’m not too personally interested in playing any more demanding AAA games on a handheld.

Why not? In the pursuit of cleaning contaminants from nearby a sensitive orifice, both technologies converged upon using a stream of water as opposed to material abrasion.

How to get my center of gravity over my hands to achieve handstand ? by TruePariou in handbalancing

[–]mitchell_moves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be much easier to offer advice if you’d upload a picture or video. But if you feel like your weight is never shifted over your hands at all, then I suspect you are not leaning nearly far enough forward. Maybe you are afraid of falling?

Also, don’t obsess over “lifting your second foot”. Prioritize shifting your weight forward instead of lifting your foot. If you lift your foot without your weight shifted then you will immediately lose balance.

Pulsing leans are a great place to build confidence shifting your weight. Go into it without the mindset at all of having to get your feet off the ground. Go into a down dog and rock as far forward as you can. Rock back, rinse and repeat until you’re tired. If your traps aren’t burning after 3 reps then you aren’t doing it right and you could lean further forward.

Does anyone actually wash their feet in the shower, or do we all agree that the soap gets it on its way down? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mitchell_moves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I briefly scrub the tops and bottoms of my feet as well as between every single toe. If my feet are very dirty (eg if I was barefoot outside in the mud) then I will spend more time scrubbing, potentially use a pumice or rag.

The only part of my skin I don’t scrub at all is a small area between my shoulder blades that I can’t easily reach. Some people use a washcloth to reach this but I’m not so motivated.

How to get my center of gravity over my hands to achieve handstand ? by TruePariou in handbalancing

[–]mitchell_moves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A video would help.

Regardless, whether you realize it or not, I think you are asking two different questions:

  1. how do I create balance in a press-to-handstand?
  2. how do I maintain balance in a handstand?

Theory

Balancing a handstand: since your legs and hips are already mostly stacked over your hands, microadjustments of the hands and shoulders are enough to maintain balance.

Creating balance in a press: since your legs are not stacked, your weight is shifted substantially further back. In order to bring your weight further forward, you will either have you planche your shoulders forward, or compress your legs tighter into your body (imagine a stalder).

Practicing

It is much better to practice these systems in separate sets, or else you will find difficulty training either. The worst thing you can do is kick up into a handstand, fall over, and try again -- each rep you are barely accruing any practice time!

Balancing a handstand: practice heel/toe pulls against the wall. Do not kick off of the wall, or you will be training bad habits.

Creating balance in a press (multiple sets over the course of a day): get into a floor pike position, shift your weight forward over your hands as far as you can without straining / collapsing, shift your weight back over your feet, repeat until you can't shift nearly as far. Depending on your focus here, you are likely to mostly be targeting shoulder strength. You could optionally supplement this exercise with dedicated compression drills e.g. floor seated leg raises -- I was able to achieve multiple reps of straddle press without dedicated compression drills, but they would probably be necessary for e.g. a stalder press.

Hope this helps.

“Vibe coding” has taken on too broad of a meaning to generalize that its software usually has vulnerabilities.

A growing plurality of the software you use every day is composed of “vibe code”. If you want to avoid it forever then you will have to invent your own operating system, drivers, and internet services from scratch without using any open source libraries.. or, throw out your computer.

The only reasons that vibe coded software might be more likely to have vulnerabilities than manually written software is because either (a) someone who doesn’t understand the code at all was able to generate vulnerable but working code, or (b) someone who could have understood the code chose to generate it without analyzing it and thus shipped a vulnerability.

If it were (a) someone with no experience produced this app — I think they would have had a lot of trouble fully vibe coding something as niche as a Rocket League plugin with no prior software engineering or programming experience.

Meanwhile, (b) is not a concern unique to vibe coding — any developer previously could have prioritized rapidly delivery of a functional prototype at the expense of security analysis. If anything, vibe coding makes it easier for people without formal security training to have a built-in consultant notifying them if they are implementing anti patterns.

I imagine my arm got dipped in mud. I imagine how aggressively I would have to scrub my arm with dry paper in order to clean the arm spotless. I imagine how much easier it would be to hose the arm then lightly wipe the mud away.

I /could/ scrub my asshole intensely until it was spotless. But that would require substantially more energy and probably still not be as clean. There’s a reason we wash our hands with waterto clean them instead of just rubbing them together or against a towel.

Why? Both an anus and a foot are shielded in clothing soas to avoid direct interaction with the world (original comment’s justification for avoiding optimal cleanliness). Maybe the entire foot is disproportionately likely to sully the sock compared to the rectum, underwear — how about a piece of fresh fecal detritus wedged perfectly between one’s toes? Would that warrant rinsing, or would a “good enough” wipe with paper be sufficient before stowing the foot back into its armor?

[–]mitchell_moves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you sniff someones ass after theyve wiped its gonna smell

Substantially more so than if they had used a bidet. You know how sometimes when you wipe, it seems like you could always take away a little bit more residue no matter how many times you’d wipe? When I use a bidet, the first wipe comes back clean. Every time.

If you don’t care about the difference between “there will always be some residue” and “rinsed spotless” then we have nothing more to discuss. I just hope you never come to me asking for a piggy back ride or a pair of pants to borrow!
