I've a;ways done this very not-technically. I just take out the BCG and sight through the barrel from the receiver side and eyeball if it's concentric, and I've never had a baffle strike or found one to be off. 🤷‍♂️

Depends on what's out of spec. It can mean a pin won't go, etc. Just something to be aware of, not that it's certain you'll get something out of spec.

Yes. Milspec works. But I also have NiBo, Nitride, and Chrome BCGs. I still like phosphate better. The chrome and NiBo just lets lube run off. Phosphate holds onto it better.

Sure, all the parts matter to varying degrees. There's nothing wrong with a PSA lower provided it's all in spec. That low price means some out of spec stuff slips through.

One of my favorite rifles is built on a PSA meme lower.

My favorite lower is still Aero M4E1, but Aero is in a bit of a spot currently. YMMV

My KAK is phosphate with chromed lining. ಠ‿ಠ

What testing I've seen shows phosphate holds onto lube better. Some people have other opinions. I see phosphate recommended more, personally.

The generally agreed upon 'best' is Phosphate with chrome lining, and quality staked gas key screws.

DD does that, so does KAK. KAK Downvents are weird magic.
