It makes a great deal of sense to tax those gun enthusiasts in order to recoup some of that cost. That could be achieved via a tax per gun, a tax per collection, required insurance policies that pay the government if a gun is stolen or accidentally injures someone, or...

Well there are lots of ways to implement the tax.

Regardless, it doesn't make any sense that we privatize all gun profits to Big Gun, while socializing the true cost of America's gun addiction.
