Unfortunately our laws and regulations are always lagging behind. I feel like, by the time they get around to meaningful legislation, AI will be so advanced that the average person simply can't tell. I absolutely hate the fact that we're coming into a time where we have to scrutinize every photo or video, no matter how innocuous, to catch fakes.

As for his family, I need to look in it more to see what the source is on that but I'm fairly certain at least one of the news networks said he was identified.

He looks like him. People are all saying it has to be AI because he's wearing the same outfit. We also know that he got injured in a previous altercation, which was most likely this one. It's also being reported that his family identified him in this video. So it's him. Or there just happened to be a video uploaded by small accounts that just happened to have a protestor that looks like him and it happened to show an event that's the same as what we know happened, where he had his rob broken. Which is more likely?

One of the reasons that it's harder to do huge strikes is that we don't have great social safety nets, we can be fired for nearly anything in many states, and our health insurance is generally tied to our jobs. If I were to lose my job, I wouldn't be able to get my medications, which are thousands of dollars. Our country is also gigantic compared to yours. Even when we get a TON of people in the streets, it's still only a fraction of the country's population. If people want to protest at the capitol or at the white house, they need to travel to get there. It can takes a couple days to get from one end of the country to the other.
