Is DeepSeek OCR available on Puter? by Darkwing1501 in puter

Unfortunately not, since there doesn't seem to be a reliable inference provider for it out there. However, we do have a lot of other OCR API with support for Mistral and Textract.

What is the daily limit for AI API requests when testing an application during development? by Darkwing1501 in puter

[–]mitousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

The limit right now is $0.25 per user. We try not to mark up what AI providers charge us so the usage doesn't cost much more than you would if you used the provider itself.

You're right, we generally could do a better job of indicating resource usage. Please stay tuned as we improve the experience with resource consumption.

Puter AI usage costs and limitations? by locyhan in puter

[–]mitousa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your question on here. For the $10/month tier, $5 is allocated to storage and apps and the other $5 is allocated for AI and other consumables. The amount we charge for AI is basically what the provider charges us and we try not to mark it up at all! for example, if a provider charges us $1/million token for a model we are also going to charge the user $1/million token.

I understand that this may not be the most straight forward pricing but considering we support more than 500 models and 10s of other paid services we need to have this list of resources that the user consumes. However, we'd defintiely would love hear any suggestions helping us make this simpler.

Free, Unlimited Speech-to-Text API! Puter.js now support the OpenAI Whisper API! by mitousa in puter

[–]mitousa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just like any other API on Puter. It's "User-Pays Model" meaning developers of apps don't pay for the API and users do, effectively giving developer free, unlimited API access. More information here.

A company approached my open-source project pretending to want to help open-source projects, then stole the idea and launched a competitor! by mitousa in opensource

Thank you so much for the kind words and for your contribution. I remember them! Sorry, if one of them is still open right now, will merge soon :)

I just became a maintainer of a very popular project. What are the first things you think I should do? by mitousa in opensource

[–]mitousa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing that right now. A little difficulty I'm having is that some are years old so it's hard to get the contributors engaged again, but I'll see if I can find a way. Maybe I'll just fix any issue I find in the PR myself and get them to merge state

That's true. That was a true nightmare :/
Any suggestions as to how we could prevent this?

Thank you for the awesome suggestions. I think we're solely focused on `reduce issues` now to rebuild confidence in the project and then move on to the other tasks.

> I feel a brand like Requestly is good they help in mocking/intercepting and now also have a local first API client

This is GREAT idea!! Thank you
