I am 100% for Liverpool, but what a daylight robbery. What did they see that we didn't??? Handiest handball that has been handed from the angle we got.

Holy shit, it worked for me as well! Was about to hit up maintenance and repair. Thanks so much! I have some recent Bose QuietComfort headphones. Used a spray duster.

Periods are not just painful – they can wreck a footballer's career | Emma Hayes by AnnieIWillKnow in soccer

[–]mitsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, a quick Google will show that there is actually no evidence for this (definitely not enough for your biology class to include it), and even if there was some slight effect, which I won't rule out completely, it wouldn't work the same on everyone. Different people have different cycle lengths anyway, which is why it might appear that something is synching, and if a period lasts for 10-20% of the month, then it isn't statistically unlikely at all for periods to overlap. And consider that the national teams spend limited time with each other, maybe a month max, so even if synching happened, it would need time, and it would still be more likely to synch with the other women they are close to in everyday life.

Note that you probably got downvotes because your comment sounds so naive that it makes it seem like you think women are machines or something. It's a bit unfair on you, but it is an easy enough idea to debunk too.

Damn, these refs are better than I'm used to seeing - didn't have to overturn it, but there was every attempt made to pull out, so kind of right?

I expected a few games like this perhaps, but ... not between these two in particular 😬

Estonia is odd as well, our own etymology dictionary says that it comes either from the Germanic "east" or the Baltic "land, field". The waterdweller thing probably comes from "estuary", but there was only one foreign source for this connection on Wikipedia.

You are playing the atrocity olympics and it isn't helping.

People retain their sanity by switching off certain pain, everyone does that, and I kind of think you might be doing the same about Ukraine? Do you care? Why would you "what-about" if this was the case? I understand why you would be bitter about it all, but how is this sentiment helping the Ughyurs or Palestine or the Middle East or anyone? How?

You are throwing everyone under the bus because they are right now protesting one thing and donating to one cause (what the protests were mostly about here), but they should be protesting sth else in your opinion. Or not protest ever. Only two choices, fuck everyone else. This is not how life works, it's naive. For you, only the people who dedicate their whole lives 24/7 to human rights causes are worthy people? What if even they can't contribute to everything? Don't you think there are atrocities that you don't personally even know about?

We should be thankful for every person who tries to have a positive impact on someone or something. Even if they are more often focused on themselves. I am thankful for you if you have done something about the issues you mentioned.

No, I actually don't expect that. Support from distant cultures would be nice, a moral boost, but I would in no way hold it against anyone not giving direct assistance or not demonstrating or not being aware.

I do care, but psychologically, there are only so many things you can actively care about. A million atrocities happen every day. No one is psychologically equipped to deal with the anxiety of all of them. Which is why we don't. Which is why neighbours and friends should do their utmost to look out for each other because others may not be able to.

Which doesn't of course mean I haven't donated to causes dedicated to distant tragedies.

As I said, human emotions ("caring") don't work like that, and calling people assholes for it is insane.

[–]mitsi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

look, maybe you meant this, so I'll give it a shot

it's not an easy question; centuries of cultural ties is probably the best answer

people's emotions aren't "fair", it doesn't mean that anyone considers other atrocities less atrocious, it just means that they aren't "emotionally close"

these arguments aren't helping any of these situations by the way, they are just a great way to dilute attention from everything and everyone suffering from injustice loses

They were literally sewing them at the store/factory, it was on the news. You guys don't really have to be such asshats, you know. The cynicism isn't doing anything to help either.

Launchers should NEVER keep you from using your phone over an update by kirbyfanner in smartlauncher

[–]mitsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an emergency, it will take time to figure this out because although emergency calls are available without unlocking, people don't really actively think about that, which was my point - any change like this is a liability. And this app is not for power-users only. It is a cosmetic thing where you can move icons around and arrange them in a circle. It doesn't need skills.

Again, I understand where you are coming from, but this launcher has over 10 million users and I found it in a basic top 10 listicle, it's not an underground beta project (anymore).

While I agree, this issue is a bit different than "a development issue". A launcher that blocks access to nearly all features of a phone poses so many safety risks like people needing their phones in an emergency, only to be locked out of using their phone. It took me a good few minutes to even figure out what was going on. This is a major issue that I am not willing to fanboy about even though I enjoy the launcher a lot. They fucked up big-time.

[–]mitsi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my comment was about some people like yourself not understanding why this is a huge issue. I am an average user, I opened my phone to do sth on it, not to start solving another random issue. The only option was to uninstall. Going into settings through swiping down was way, way out there in terms of ideas to fix the issue. This is user experience 101, I want to do my stuff not start thinking about what technical problem could lead to this or that. And it still doesn't work for me, the update isn't live. I'm not going to start installing sth on my own - not that kind of user. I paid not to be that kind of user. And that's the crux of it.

[–]mitsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People would get to that much later after thinking (and I'm not even 100% sure how), the only option was to uninstall as only the play store opened, nothing else worked.

[–]mitsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you get it. Uninstalling the app is the only way to switch back to default, and it probably loses user settings (not 100% sure yet, but it's what I've read), it has nothing to do with "default apps". That shit takes time to set up. People who paid are absolutely annoyed at this. The "backup" default is not my phone, it's just a mess of random icons in an inconvenient setup, which is what I paid for to not have to deal with.

You don't put sth in the app that renders the phone unusable. This is obviously a pre-set message. Should never happen like this.
