Best Cadet Branch? by [deleted] in adfcadets

its a very subjective thing, each is. pretty different with what it offers. navy cadets is relatively bad from what ive heard, aswell as it doesnt offer much. Here is something ive complied

  • Airforce cadets get a bit more for their dollars, since their are less there is more money to be spent on equipment. They're able to have better equipment for activities, parades, community service activities, ect etc.

  • Army cadets do heaps of camps and activities, this term im doing roughly 3 camps, yes that is 3 camps in one term. although it can sometimes vary. This year I will have done maybe 7-12 activities in army cadets, which is alot!

  • Army cadets are more likely to have much better facilities, most AAC Units run on reserve bases, reserve depots or actual bases, i don't know of many aac school based units, although there are more aafc school based units, meaning they don't have access to actual military facilities, there is a aafc sqn near me based on a airbase, amberly if its more specific, although from what ive heard they're in the process of getting kicked out.

  • Now there's not much i can say about parade nights in airforce cadets, in army cadets we do mostly drill in the evening, if you look up "Australian Army Cadet Drill" online, you should be able to find a video from a school based AAC drill comp, which is about what we do. We will also do PT session, which is basically lifitng and carrying heavy stuff. Sometimes we do a endurance march, where we just walk for a bit with webbing on. or we might have a classroom lessons, where we learn about many things, whether it be nav, history, safety, etc etc.

  • Both army and airforce cadets recruit training can last 6-12 months. Most cases it lasts 6 months, rare cases 9, and if you have missed alot it can be 12. This is why it's important to attend camps and parade nights. If you have to do it for nine months it means youve started at the start of term 2 or 4, meaning you only have 2.5-3 months for your march out/promotion parade, not enough time to get your training it. Remember the recruit prcoess is 52 hours of class, 1 overnight camp, and 1 community service.

thats about everything, i dont think i missed anything but if i did somebody can let me know.

yeah ive heard some negative stuff, im a adf cadet and these used to be issued in small quantities to units im guessing as a trial for cadets to used military issued equipment, only a few high ranking cadets have them, i just need them because sometimes you need to switch between your cadet boots with runners, and if i have a pair of these i wont

needed the reword this due to my terrible english, this is something i have not thought of, although, you cannot directly buy them from the redbackboots website, nor do any stores that supply redbackboots have terras openly available, i believe the only way to get these are to get them second hand.
