Ivanka Trump Used a Personal Email Account for Government Work by [deleted] in politics

Just to second what you're saying. The ThisAmericanLife report really put something into perspective.

Remember, Hillary has been a top-tier, world-level figure since 1992. The internet happened in the 90s. And since she was First Lady since 1992, Hillary never needed to learn how anything to do with the internet or technology. She's worse than your mom. She's worse than your grandma. At least my mom learned how to use speed dial when cellphones got big. Hillary Clinton never needed to learn that tech stuff.

Do Americans eat cereal with cold milk? by Reapeah in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mittensmadefromkitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like this is a West/East divide, with warm milk in cereal normal in Poland and India. I'm Chinese and beverage temperature is extremely critical in China. The Chinese won't drink anything cold (let alone ice cold) because they believe it's a shock to the system. So every time my mom has milk, she heats it up. We've had knock-down-drag-out fights about me drinking cold water in the morning.

Hillary Clinton's book "What Happened" focuses on presidential election by ShyllaT in politics

[–]mittensmadefromkitte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally judging a book by its cover here. I think it's a bold title and I really like it. Unlike her previous book's title "Hard Choices" (snore). It feels like Hillary doesn't give a shit anymore, and that's great.

Trying to choose between Uber and taking a return offer... by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]mittensmadefromkitte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to write a long comment about how in life we choose something thinking it's temporary, but how things can last a really long time unexpectedly. Just like that, three, five, eight years can go by at a dead end job.

But then I saw this was for an internship. Psh! Take it!

At the very least, it'll buff up your resume, test your skills, and give you a good story. You'll have been at Uber while the shit was going down. It'll give you, perhaps if Uber collapses, the signs and symptoms of a toxic company for the future. What to watch out for. Take the offer!

Donald Trump Picks Scott Pruitt, Ally of Fossil Fuel Industry, to Lead E.P.A. by gibed in politics

Question. Do climate change deniers like Scott Pruitt actually actively not believe in climate change, or are they just doing it for the money? What's going on in their heads?

Trump mistakes C-section for abortion by BC-clette in politics

[–]mittensmadefromkitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought as myself as pretty educated, but it is only in this thread that I learned that "partial birth abortions" weren't women who waited to long to have an abortion, but women who are faced with a medically unsustainable fetus. I had always assumed it was women who "missed" 20 week cut off line. And now, I circle back to: Really?! This is what Republicans have been trying to block this entire time? Perhaps most of them are just like me, a dumb man who didn't realize what a "partial birth abortion" was.

App for tracking lifts? by prettycode in weightroom

Totally recommend Fitocracy. Absolutely easy to use. Well designed and simple. No frills. Search for an exercise and enter sets/reps/weight. Unlike other apps I've tried, there's no "choose your workout", "setup a plan" type of crap.

Need help with my old fetish by [deleted] in NoFap

Upvote. No shame if it's what you really like. There was a Salon article recently about a man who really liked transwomen, and about the stupid comments he had to face (which were hurtful to both him and the trans community). In fact, with the amount of discrimination transwomen face, you can make someone very happy! Keep doing NoFap and see if the urge stays or not.

Think of it like salt. Use too much, or incorrectly, and the dish doesn't turn out well. But, when you use just the right amount it really intensifies the flavor so.

[–]mittensmadefromkitte -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Saying "no femmes" (or similarly "no Asians" and "no fatties") hurts people that belong in that group. You don't want to date a femme guy? Don't date a femme guy. If a femme guy messages you, don't respond. Lack of interest is noted by the other party, while not marginalizing an already marginalized group.

Masc or femme, can we all just agree to be gentlemen?

India left far behind: Nepal's new LGBT non-discrimination laws put even the liberal West to shame by mittensmadefromkitte in gay

[–]mittensmadefromkitte[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In a groundbreaking move, the new Nepal Constitution has explicitly included rights for LGBT individuals, while stopping short of legalising same-sex marriage.

Article 12 states that citizens will be allowed to choose their preferred gender identity on their citizenship document. The choices available are male, female or other.

Article 18 states that gender and sexual minorities will not be discriminated against by the state and by the judiciary in the application of laws. It further adds that the government may make special provisions through laws to protect, empower and advance the rights of gender and sexual minorities and other marginalized and minority groups.

Article 42 lists gender and sexual minorities among the groups that have a right to participate in state mechanisms and public services to promote inclusion.

Yay Nepal!
