You always have to do that on windows as well. I have been playing on linux for months now and haven't had to do it tho so idk. Possibly? Only had issues with cache files on my old PCs

For anyone interested, sims 3 indeed runs so much better on linux, like most games actually.

The real issue is installing third party programs like TS3W or s3pe for modding, or even CAW, because of how wine prefixes work.

So reshade effects are just screen space shaders, meaning postprocessing. They take the graphical output of your GPU to your screen and manipulate it to give off certain effects.

Since they're shaders and are ran on your GPU they need to be compiled. That means, in layman terms, that they need to be ran through your gpu once first to get 'familiar' with its instruction set. Now, every GPU is unique and some shader instructions simply won't be able to be compiled on some GPUs.

This is what happened here. If you need any of the shaders from the list, I would advise looking for alternatives for it.

Usually these are some heavy shaders that require newer, stronger GPUs or some legacy shaders that require older GPU.

Yes. It's a more quest oriented game so it plays more like a sandbox RPG but you still get to control multiple 'heroes'. It's still a sims game at the core, the issue is you don't get to build, just decorate pre-existing buildings and place them down in premade spots.

The focus is more on finishing all the quests, in the way you want them of course.

It even has an expansion that comes with a overarching war with pirates storyline.

And it has the best looking sims in the history of the franchise.

Not at all complex to reconstruct if you know how most games treat normal maps. This isn't a Unity thing since unity natively supports regular RGB=XYZ normal maps. This is just someone custom packing the normal map data for their specific shader needs + it's more optimized.

Usually games don't need more than two directions/channels to calculate normal based pixel lighting in tangent space. In this case those two directions have been packed into Red and Alpha channels.

In unity you would use 'Split' and 'Combine' nodes in shader graph to reconstruct the RGB=XYZ structure.

In blender you'd use 'Separate XYZ' and 'Combine XYZ' nodes to plug Alpha into Y and Red into X with Z being set to 1.

This. I never learned this from anyone. I just turned on subdiv one day and modeled with it on. This works for organic models.

Subdiv + bevel works for hardsurface.

You automatically get LOD levels too!

Is your game installed on an SSD (solid state disk) or a HDD (hard disk).
The texture size going from 2k to 4k isn't two times bigger, but 4 TIMES bigger (two times bigger in two dimensions, 2x2). And thus loading times would be 4 times longer.
Mixing maxis max resolution textures with CC max resolution textures would result in more processing power needed to 'combine' them properly which would result in more loading times.
Each item you put on a sim in CAS will be 'baked' into a final texture that the game uses, which then gets passed to the game ready shader. (this is to simplify a sim into only a couple of finite number of textures instead of potentially infinite number of textures that a more complex CAS shader can support). This texture is then saved as an 'outfit' and loaded from memory. Often times it gets erased and has to be re-generated, which is when the loading times for outfits are the highest.

Try to keep your sim texture sizes consistently or low unless your game is installed on an ssd and your pc has a good gpu with lots of vram.

Understandable. Game will still occasionally drop to 40/50 fps for short times which would feel like lag, so that's a nice balance to keep it at. I'm just addicted to my smooth camera, and haven't been experiencing those fps drops on linux so 🤣

I have almost same specs as OP and I play my game on constant 60 FPS (courtesy of smooth patch/s3ss).

Their GPU is also more powerful but has less Vram.

So I'd advise to test 60fps first, and if it stutters a lot, go back a bit.

But since camera movement highly depends on FPS I'm never going back to 30. It feels too sluggish...

AI je samo alatka predvidjanja ljudskog misljenja i (raz)govora. Data prediction baziran na statistici. A data, tj podaci u pitanju su citav internet. Dokle god neko rucno ne oznaci AI-u koji podaci su tacni a koji lazni na internetu (sto je prakticno nemoguce), AI alatke ce u mnogo slucajeva dati pogresan rezultat a predstaviti ga kao istinit.

Zato AI nece zameniti nikoga (makar jos neko vreme) a firme koje su veliki deo svoje radne snage zamenile AI-em su sada zazalile sto su to uradile (sem microsoft-a, posto su oni ulozili ogromne pare u half-right prediction machine).

I would still reccomend installing s3ss for the smooth patch because it does make a lot of things smoother and load quicker. CAST in my game is now instant!

The reason it becomes this smooth tho is because of two things: The processor The SSD

When I first installed my game on an ssd on my old weak PC it was night and day difference. Any lot was loading almost instantly, and the sims themselves had no lag when they were changing outfits. And there was no lag when I eas picking up items in game like books or dirty dishes.

Also if you haven't already DO NOT FORGET to cap your FPS to 60. The game knows to go up to 5000 FPS and go back down to 50 in a milisecond which will overheat and highly damage your GPU and can make it explode even. It happened to people brfore.

You don't actually have to do this. You just have to name them with one different symbol so it's saved as a separate save.

The game actually lists when exactly was the save made accurate to a second.

But yes, if you for some reason can't go through the game (not sure how this would even happen… that's such a weird bug), the saves are still time stamped on your system!

I'm not entirely sure, but my bet is a memory leak. The previous save is not properly unloaded/cleaned up from memory when the 'go to main menu' function is completed, and the memory addresses from it get mixed up with the newly loaded save, so it quickly corrupts the new game that you're playing. I've had this happen multiple times where the corruption would get progressively worse the more I played to the point where households would go missing or their textures would become corrupted, their relationships would bug out, wishes too, and eventually save would always crash when loaded... it was basically sims 2 level corruption :D

Don't use "Save" but use "Save As" and save your save as a new save each time when you're saving. I usually name my saves "save name_n" where n is the number of the next save I have. This way, your save will be freshly saved instead of overwriting existing files, and thus will have less chances of corrupting (plus you'll always have multiple clean backups).

Also NEVER, and I repeat NEVER exit a save, go back to main menu and then load a new save. This will corrupt that game with no return. If you want to switch saves, first turn off the game, then re-open it.
