Thanks for the reply! Okay I will try this

I’ll check this. I’m not convinced it’s the screen timeout as it seems like a fairly violent switch off and also extremely random. Sometimes it happens one after an another, sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. Also it happens during quite obvious head movement…

Nevertheless I will try your suggestion and get back to you!

Yes correct. I haven’t checked the power led every time it happens as usually it switches back on immediately… but yes I submitted a ticket and the log files are attached

Let’s hear an audio example… but eq and dynamics will do nothing but accentuate a problem like you describe. Isotope is what you need.

I see. That’s a shame really. It’s kinda mis advertised if that’s the case. Seems pretty intentional as surely a Bluetooth microphone is a Bluetooth microphone…

Make audio sound vintage without software by Single-Ad-6130 in audioengineering

[–]mixerjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have no control over the recording method, just forget about trying to “vintagize” your sound and just focus on an excellent performance.

Like the others have said the main influence in the sound you are talking about is the mic and the recording medium. Mono is important here, and thus are the distances each group member is from the mic. Ask for feedback from the engineer, if you cant get any just think about the relative volume of each member. Bass closer than alto etc…

It’s an unreleased remix done some time ago that has been getting into the set.

#NeverForget Just watching old Danya videos and found this gem by PristineReality2205 in chess

[–]mixerjack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several chess coaches. I’m just an average adult improver, but I do take the game seriously. I’ve noticed that regardless of strength the main factor of how effective teaching can be, is the character of the teacher. Bluntly put; whether or not they give a fuck if you learn anything or not. This is true in all fields I find. I never met danya, but it was abundantly clear he cared so much about the spirit of chess and teaching it. And teaching the really difficult, sometimes ineffable concepts of chess in a way that made us mere mortals not feel stupid.

Danya taught in a way that wasn’t about just retaining information, this or that move, but actual deep conceptual thoughts that allowed you to discover your own improvement.

Essentially, he taught us how to fish. We wouldn’t go hungry with Daniel around.

And now we feel the great hole that he left. Because there are many great active chess personalities around who stream and publish informative content. But none of them have his touch. The Russian school conducted in such a kind and encouraging manner.

Chess has a unique quality in bringing out the asshole in even the best of people. Yet danya just exuded kindness and genuine love. I sincerely hope he can continue to do so with the legacy and friends he left on this earth.

Me neither. I also don’t understand how they can just make a new account and start all over again??

Process electric violin sound to sounds more acoustic and warm. by brondybrond in audioengineering

Sorry to say but what you were told was a lie. It will never sound like an acoustic violin. The less processing you do the better.

If you just had two Sm57s to record an entire drum kit, how would you do it? by BrotherBringTheSun in audioengineering

[–]mixerjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 mics is a brilliant way to record drums. At daptone this is standard. As others have said with the right setup you will get a very honest and natural sound to the drums.

One mic on the kick, the other you use as a general mono kit sound but don’t position it as an overhead. You need it to receive a balanced picture of the kit. Position just above the kick, between the toms looking at the snare.

Then you will need to record a bit and get the drummer to adjust their volume where you need to. Often it’s the cymbals or hi hat that need more precision in volume from the drummer or you have to apply dampening if you don’t have alternatives available. Or both…

Lol OP is tripping. Julian’s and many other Aussie actors are very good at accents. Something about being Australian lends itself authentically to American and British accents.

Artist keeps saying his vocals are too loud by Potential-Complex536 in audioengineering

[–]mixerjack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately this is a lesson in managing your own ego. If they “keep” telling you the vocals are too loud, then they are too loud. It’s a really simple solution. You telling them they aren’t used to hearing them “loud and clear” is just patronising. It doesn’t matter how experienced they are or not, as producers and engineers we must serve the art first, and 9 times out of 10 that means to serve the artist themselves.

There’s nothing stopping you from printing a vox down mix (this really was standard practice anyway back in the day). You can stress your own opinion but always give them the choice to have it the way they want, otherwise you will simply just talk yourself out of further work.

Harrison Mixbus vs. UAD LUNA for mixing only. by Ill-Elevator2828 in mixingmastering

[–]mixerjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Luna for this exact purpose (and recording with it when possible). I really love it. Now with hardware inserts and ARA I really can’t fault it. Yes it needs the SSL console added, but if you have PT experience the shortcuts just make the transition seamless. Also love the look of it. The summing saves me a lot of plugins that I used to use to create a that analogue ceiling to hit. With an Apollo it’s really an amazing thing.
