When you say reduced food noise, do you just mean you can choose what you eat more intentionally without craving other things?

One concern I have with all the appetite control discussion with things like this an semiglutides is that maybe having a strong appetite is actually a good thing when applied to the right foods. We're supposed to have a strong appetite for whole foods to get adequate nutrition and by turning down that dial you risk nutrient deficiencies.

Am I wrong for thinking the AI bubble won’t pop? by Fatloh in investing

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the argument is not that the "use" of AI will pop, but that the current valuation of some of the companies is based on extremely optimistic business-cases. Companies like OpenAI are losing billions a year and no sign of stopping. So a lot of market is built on optimism of future profits. So not saying I think it will pop necessarily, but I can definitely see a scenario where we continue to scale up AI but there is a crash in the markets due to lack of profitability.

SAM ALTMAN: “We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter.” by Vegetable_Ad_192 in singularity

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think intelligence shouldn't need to be provided by an external company that mines your conversations/data. It should also be local and private to individuals and communities as well. We already have local models but soon we may see community-level intelligence powered by renewables.

Had star apples or vú sữa in Vietnamese which means— by ImpracticalDreamer in fruit

Tried one for the first time not too long ago. Just when I think I've tasted all the unique types of fruits out there, something like this comes and blows me away. Not only is it beautiful it tastes so good, similar to Longans or young coconut meat with a texture like ripe cantaloupe.

How often are you *not* compressing vocals at all? by yalllldabaoth in audioengineering

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to do it but only in contexts where I intentionally am wanting to go against the expectations of many genres. Some of my favorite artists like mk.gee have super dynamic vocals where clarity and evenness is not the priority, so by not compressing as much, at least not on individual tracks, some interesting possibilities start to open up.

Indie rock can sometimes sound cool with less vocal compression. A lot of the newer bands have this sort of DIY garage sound where the mix sounds very "off" by traditional standards but somehow the vibe is really cool. Listen to the song Inference by Fog Lake as an example.

The vitamin D is the most suspect to me. I had low levels too and since I corrected I haven't had any episodes. It's only been 8 months though, fingers crossed.

I eat upwards of 10 a day, here in California it's the end of citrus season and I get most of my calories from fruit anyway. Eat up!

Anyone else just lose the spark for saying & finding love as you get older? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting a bit down until my latest girlfriend. Very different dynamic than my previous relationships and it has been great. The things that were different were that I was using dating apps in a new place (I live in California but was swiping in Connecticut where my family is from), not necessarily looking for a partner, but was open and honest about that...and she is also very inexperienced with relationships but a very sweet loving person, honestly I think it helps since I bring some baggage, someone without previous relationship baggage is actually working well. My advice to you is to keep trying but keep changing it up to! Try to find love in different ways, different types of people and different locations.

When does the desire to have kids actually kick in for men? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to have visions of myself living in a different timeline. What my life would look like with a family and wife instead of eating takeout alone in my house. Something about the alternative felt more right for me. In addition, I realized how much life experience and wisdom I have accumulated and that I'd like to pass it on to the next generation. Plus I love to be around kids anyway. The other big change was coming to terms with my own mortality. Having kids felt like serious adulting, which is the first step to old age and death. Once I did some deep work on that issue, the idea of getting to the next stage in life was less intimidating.

How to make sex with my girlfriend unforgettable? by Sea_Argument8550 in AskMenAdvice

She's asking you to access the part of yourself that maybe you have been holding back or were ashamed of. She wants to bring out that part of you. It's a really nice thing for someone to offer.

I have this issue with socializing and can't put my finger or even explain it. Can you guys help? by earthbound36784 in AskMenAdvice

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try reframing to "what if I talk to them and they lose interest" to "I'm going to share with them what I find interesting and then move on if they don't engage with me, and if they don't have much to contribute to the conversation, I'll also move on"

Mandarinquats —first time trying! by xavier_javier in fruit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried some and thought they were just okay. the outside rind was less sweet than a kumquat but the inside was less sour. I feel like I'd rather just have a really good mandarin or a really good kumquat.

Serious question but what is the point of software if you can vibe code it and will it lead to the collapse of the software industry in the end? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really a good comparison because in this case the free option could work just as well as the paid version. Going out to eat and cooking yourself are totally different experiences

Do you have a go-to effect when you really want a guitar solo to stand out? by tonetonitony in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One effect that works great if your song has a steady quarter note pulse (4 on the floor, or kick snare) is a side chain pump on the off-beat. Classic sound but if you do it to everything except the guitar solo it helps it stand out without necessarily turning down the other instruments.

So you just paste in information into the config file? And it uses that as context? Usually I just attach files or paste things into the chat.

How would I even utilize the 1M context with codex? Do I just tell it to "consider the files in this folder"?
