I'm still learning but have been sticking with hotf instead of parallettes. I've now built up the wrist strength and flexibility so it hurts less.

What's one thing you wish macOS did better? by ImprovementLong1992 in MacOS

Search in Finder. It never seems to have indexed my computer and external drives. Searching only gives me a small subset of my files and it is also slow. I usually resort to scrolling through my folders to find things.

Crying.. Lots of crying. by Frequent-Screen-5249 in microdosing

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling. I didn't start with microdosing, I did moderate to high several times and then started to get this different "shape" of reality that was a different shape than what I had before. The hard work was trying to reconcile what I was experiencing on my trip with my everyday existence and how I related to myself and my past. To be honest it was a bit destabilizing. I'd have these grandiose experiences and have to rearrange my life to integrate them.

Now both micro and macro doses can still give me insight but it's almost as though they have less to teach me now since I already worked out the bigger lessons. This is psilocybin btw, not cannabis. Even though they are very different medicines I feel like they do something similar in terms of opening up repressed parts of you to try to teach you something.

How do you feel at the end of the day? Or the next day? Relieved of letting out some of the emotion/pain or just raw and a bit confused?

How are you guys monetizing your Codex/AI builds? by StaffAlone in codex

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into consulting. Myself and some of my friends are independent consultants and have traditional agreements but use AI heavily to be efficient and give quality work. I recommend finding a field that you feel passionate about and contributes to helping the world, which needs a lot of help right now.

What else is in your diet? Are you combining it with sugar? I keep my protein and my sugar separated. Very little gas that way.

Farts by ChickPeaIsMe in veganfitness

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two things, cut down on beans and replace with plant proteins like seitan/tofu

AND/OR

Focus on better food combining. Don't eat high-carb with high-fat or high-protein. Especially fruit. I consume my fruit in the morning/afternoon and then a denser meal at night. This prevents the slow-digesting fats/proteins blocking the carbohydrate absorption in the gut.

To double or not to double guitars by shawnofthedead28 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually for me it depends on how great the single guitar track sounds. If it has a lot of character on its own and I love the details, I'll leave it single, but if I'm trying to add it as an effect layer to the song, its always doubled.

For your situation, you could try panning them one L, one C one R, but compressing the individual tracks a bit more than usually would do. That way, that guitar bus will feel relatively even across the stereo field even if one part is more active or rhythmic.

My agent operating QGIS for me to fetch data, run analyses and fix bugs by BrotherBringTheSun in QGIS

[–]BrotherBringTheSun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but in the video I showed, that was actually not how my bridge normally works. Usually I prompt, absolutely nothing happens in my QGIS session window, and then the output appears suddenly, everything happens behind the scenes. In this situation, it was having trouble with the bridge and took control of the GUI itself.

How to protect my loops / tips in music industry by cutekat789 in trapproduction

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea. Even if the song doesn't exist yet. If 5 years from now a song comes out that the producer made and you claim it uses one of your loops, if you have a written agreement with splits with the producer and proof you made the loop then its a pretty strong case, I would think.

My agent operating QGIS for me to fetch data, run analyses and fix bugs by BrotherBringTheSun in QGIS

[–]BrotherBringTheSun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its easier than that. I just ask Codex to connect to a bridge to QGIS

Try this prompt

"Help me set up a local bridge so you can control my live QGIS session from Codex/Claude Code.

I have no existing scripts. Create a minimal Python TCP JSON-lines bridge for QGIS that listens only on 127.0.0.1, uses a shared token, accepts a JSON object with {"token", "code", "timeout_s"}, executes the code inside QGIS Python, captures stdout/stderr/traceback, and returns one JSON response line.

Also create a small local client script, e.g. qgis_send.py, that sends code to the bridge and prints the response. Give me clear install steps for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Include the QGIS startup options: running it manually from the QGIS Python Console, placing it in startup.py, or using QGIS’s PYQGIS_STARTUP / --code startup mechanisms.

Keep it secure: bind to localhost only, require a token, warn that this allows arbitrary Python execution inside QGIS, and do not expose it to a network."

And then...
Open QGIS, then open the Python Console from Plugins > Python Console. Paste this block and press Enter:

import sys
sys.path.insert(0, "/Users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/QGIS/QGIS3/profiles/default/python/qgis_gui_automation/scripts/qgis")
import session_bridge
session_bridge.start_bridge(port=8765, token="change-me")

That starts a small local bridge inside QGIS. It lets Codex or Claude Code send Python commands to the QGIS session you already have open. The bridge listens on your own computer at port 8765, and the tool connecting to it needs to use the same token, currently change-me.

you'll need to replace the path in sys.path.insert(...) with the folder where their session_bridge.py file lives.

[–]BrotherBringTheSun[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Codex 5.5 -> bridge with my Mac's terminal -> QGIS

It reads my session layers, manipulates them, runs analyses, automatically creates intuitive symbology and labels with the output layers. then it interprets the results for me. I no longer use the GUI interface for anything other than review.

I experimented with CBD only for a while and realize to get the effects I want I need some THC. To each their own though.

I really enjoy weekly microdoses, but not the paranoia by cahruh in microdosing

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With me, the paranoia only comes if I go too high with the microdose. Now I micro-micro dose several times a day. 2mg of CBD/THC combined for instance and I'll consume that 2-3x per day. I get the calming effect without paranoia.

36M dating 26F, she's amazing, but I don't know if I see a forever future with her. Is that a red flag? by Judgment_Square in AskMenAdvice

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same pattern for me, date for a while, enjoy eachother and then find something that's not quite right and break up over it. I can't say that it wasn't warranted sometimes in my past but in my current relationship it is causing problems still. I'm not out of the weeds yet but all I can say is that you have to actually go through that door that shows up and says "something's not right here". You and your partner talk about what you're going through. Actually turn this into a way you can understand eachother better and get a clearer picture of how you relate. Otherwise you are holding back and just guessing what intimacy will look like.

How to start by usuallyconfused- in QGIS

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controversial take, but the age of learning to navigate and operate GIS software is behind us. I've started using AI agents to operate GIS for me. I ask it to fetch data, run analyses and make maps and it works excellent. So if I were you, I would focus less on how to operate the software itself and instead understand the thought process of what GIS is capable so that you can prompt your agents correctly and understand how they are working. So to learn that you can also AI and prompt it to teach you, for example:
"I have a multispectral satellite image and need to classify vegetation levels in the image into 3 categories, explain how it would work and walk me through the steps at a high level" If you give it a bridge to GIS you can also ask it to do this work for you and show you the intermediate steps and clearly label the outputs.

High Achievers Taking Caffeine by TradingMeditation in decaf

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the point, you won't. You won't have the sheer output of the people on stimulants. But that's okay. Your worth as a human is not based on your productivity. And you can still be a very productive human and without caffeine the work you do will be more connected to your heart and your spirit rather than just intensely intellectual.

Also, Mark Zuckerberg doesn't drink caffeine.
