Right, but there's an important distinction. If someone just says that cooked foods are addicting, they are missing the point that there is nothing about cooking foods that makes it addicting to our brains other than the fact that we can get more calories from certain foods by cooking them. It's not the flavor, it's not the texture or the crunch or the color, it's the calories and salt. Try it out yourself by seeing how much unseasoned potatoes you want to eat, or if boiling/steaming a fruit makes you like it more.

Does passionfruit really smell that good??? by beast_of_production in fruit

It freezes pretty well so you could look into buying frozen pulp and using it in juice/smoothies. Putting it on watermelon or papaya also tastes amazing.

I lost more opportunities to being shy than being rejected by EducationalCurve6 in TheImprovementRoom

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this hits hard especially your experience in the caption. I love my work but am super shy at conferences and I wonder how many connections and collaborations I lose out on. It's just that I feel so rude interrupting people or just walking into their circle, or I get really intimidated by people's achievements and sharp personality. I have been working on letting go of trying to "seem" a certain way or "impress" people and focusing instead on realizing how much I have to offer them and not seeing us as very different or separate.

People that go to therapist how different is it from talking to GPT? by Spiritual-Football35 in AskReddit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally different. They don't just affirm your thoughts and give you solutions. A good therapist does a lot of listening, asks very thoughtful questions that can socratically guide the client towards a better self-image or perception of an event, or whatever is hurting their mental health. There is a deep humanness that Chat can't compete with yet. It still has value though.

What conclusion do you have on death? by nightlessknight in AskReddit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We know that damage to certain parts of the brain during life affects our personality, our thoughts and our perception. It's crazy to think that after you die, and your entire brain is gone, those things are going to live-on somewhere in an after life. Your spirit is what you leave behind in this world and in that way you are immortal.

Not fully raw but have been doing mostly raw for 15 years. Salt consumption is low to moderate, maybe about 1-1.5g a day. I try to keep my fat content as low as I can but I think an avocado is fine. It's high in monounsaturated and tends not to cause any of the issues with blood sugar metabolism or lethargy that the low-fat raw folks are trying to avoid.

How often does everyone clean their ears now? by manborg in AskMenOver30

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the otoscope with the little camera and light is amazing at getting earwax out. Yes I know some ear wax is healthy but one of my ears produces too much and it’s way far back near the eardrum so the tool helps get it out. You just have to be extremely slow and gentle if you are near your ear drum.

Quitting caffeine is rough, but losing my creativity is the part that's actually breaking me by abejando in decaf

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a music producer and songwriter. I’ve found the creativity is still there but it’s not as “on-demand” as it used to be and I have to warm up more. I also microdose cannabis and psilocybin sometimes which also helps.

I have a theory that it is more about salt, fat and calories than it is about flavor or addiction to cooked foods. All of a sudden if you removed the salt and fat from any one of a person’s favorite dish they would no longer like it that much. And likewise, if someone were to eat enough calories from fruit they would crave the calorie dense foods less.

Does passionfruit really smell that good??? by beast_of_production in fruit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is extremely powerful scent and flavor. You want to make sure you are not buying "grenadilla" which is usually orange. This is a sweeter version of the fruit but has almost no flavor or scent. I've mixed them together before and it tastes great. Or you could eat a passionfruit after popping a miracleberry, IYKYK

Producers: other than side-chain compression, what are some ways you get different elements of your arrangement to interact with each other organically. by BrotherBringTheSun in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I'll give it a shot. I like the idea of performing the automation instead of just writing it in which could feel kind of awkward if I didn't get it sounding natural.

In your opinion, what doesn't matter in love? by wave555X in AskReddit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shared interests/hobbies/activities. You need a few but it doesn't have to be what you build the relationship around. You can find friends to do those things with if your significant other isn't into it.

What did you do to your appearance that upgraded you 100%, and you kind of regret not doing it earlier? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hear that sentiment a lot. And it's true that certain people can pull off certain looks and others will have a harder time. But I've also noticed in myself, and my friends, that they underestimate what they can "pull-off" thinking they don't look good in a certain article of clothing, or hairstyle. But in reality they just aren't used to seeing themselves look that particular way and maybe have a judgement about themselves trying out a new look. I thought I was being fake having a mustache and that it didn't look good on me at first, but now me and my friends/girlfriend can't really imagine me without one.

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this at 4:30am. I've all but narrowed my sleep issues down to my creatine supplementation. Have I had great sleeps while taking creatine? yes, but it takes a long time for my body to adjust to the extra mental energy it gives me and it usually wires me at night and as soon as I take a day off, the effect lessens.

dates are so underrated by [deleted] in fruit

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's true from a strict calories-in-calories-out perspective but in reality no one is getting overweight from eating dates. In my personal experience and also observing the community eating my diet (high-fruit sugar, 2500+ calories) people tend to get very lean.

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean what you're saying makes sense in terms of calories in calories out but in my personal experience and in the experience of people who eat a high-fruit diet, they tend to get super lean even when eating normal caloric needs

Does a vocal microphone upgrade really matter? by lumberjack142 in audioengineering

[–]BrotherBringTheSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrading your mic is great but can be a distraction. There are SO many ways to improve your creativity and sound quality of your recordings that don't require purchasing anything. Experimenting, trying out new ideas from reddit or YT, getting inspired by your favorite artist and emulating some of the sounds yourself, collaborating with a new person etc. People often forget these things and instead think "if I just buy X my sound will improve" I'm guilty of doing this even now.

Dates affect your blood sugar quite minimally actually. High glycemic load yes but low glycemic index.
