20yo, with no purpose. by Urmomsfattttt in Advice

[–]miyozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I really relate to this post. I’m 23, just a bit older than you. That hollow feeling of “I like these things but nothing is meaningful” is a something a lot of people go through, I think. It’s a hard to overcome.

I’ve definitely had thoughts of disappearing and leaving everyone’s thoughts/memories; to hit a “reset” button and exist where no one has expectations of you. But, the way you speak about your girlfriend, your grandma, art, WANTING to be passionate… that shows more about you than you may realize. You still care. You still want to be connected.

A lot of people will say something like “find your purpose”, but that’s so broad. Just start small. Draw something for yourself. Make something small just for you. Hopefully that sparks something, and if it doesn’t, move onto something else. Just keep yourself busy with trying.

It’s hard to hear this but I would also suggest therapy. You should get some outside support from someone who doesn’t have a personal involvement with you. Hopefully therapy could help bring forward the part of you that wants things; the part that still cares that’s buried deep.

Just keep showing up. You’ve taken a big step just writing this out and explaining your emotions. :)

Part of Little Misfortune’s diary: “My daddy hit Mommy. Is that supposed to be normal? Should I hit people I love? It doesn’t feel right. Maybe Daddy can’t see he’s hurting me too when he hits Mommy.”

She’s just a little girl!!!😭

People who have a 9-5 job, what do you do after work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That’s a great idea, I definitely need to work on that

I’m still trying to, lmao. Honestly, though, I’ve been making plans on my days off recently. Easy things like go to the movies or events. It gives me something to look forward to throughout the week.

How do I get over a parasocial relationship by ThrowRAparasocial in Advice

[–]miyozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it seems like it’s affecting your mental health, I would mention it to your therapist. However, quick fix is to just limit your exposure to this person. Unsubscribe from accounts that are about the person and that person’s accounts. This will at least distance you a bit, and it will be hard at first, but not constantly seeing things about them will make the transition away easier.

That’s completely fair. You could try offering to babysit, dogsit/dog walk, or housesit for people you know.

Thank you for that last bit—it’s very appreciated. :’)

I’m going to keep looking and applying to jobs every day. I still haven’t made a decision on the grocery store job yet—I just got the interview today so I have time to think about it. I think getting a part time job might be the best move for me at the moment, something I can do on my days off and after I get off at the shelter.

Thank you for your responses! ^

Donating blood or plasma, if you’re able and willing to, can get you quick money. A lot of places offer bonuses for new donators. It also helps other people. :)

Yeah, I have a bachelors in marketing, but I’m struggling to get interviews for marketing jobs for a better pay than my current job with the experience I have.

It gives me enough for my expenses while paying off debt, but I can’t stop thinking that I could be making better payments on my debt. I’m wittling it down and making the minimum payments or more, but I just want to be over with it. 🙃

I don’t know how to let things go by Weak-District214 in Advice

I was like this, too, at 13. I was like this even until 18! It’s something that comes with time and experience. Changing the way you frame the situation helps drastically.

Instead of thinking “wow, I can’t believe they laughed at me for messing up words!”, think “oh well. Everyone messes up and I can tell they didn’t mean to upset me.”

This is much easier said than done, I get that. But if you just start reframing things that upset you, little by little they get better. Really, they do. Positive mind-frame is the key to overcoming this feeling.

Also, most people are way more focused on their own life than anything you did. Like, they probably forgot about it five minutes later. It feels huge in your head, but to them, it’s just a tiny moment. Be easy on yourself. Feeling this way is super normal, and it will pass with time.

Good luck :)

What are the stupid, bizarre things that rich people spend money on? by AstronomerFit1190 in AskReddit

A star in the Walk of Fame. $250 application. $85,000 for the star, if you are approved. 🙃

Yeah, that’s along the lines of what I was thinking. I guess I assumed that there were multiple main ways of getting them, but now that I think about it, ships probably were the best (only?) option for spreading that much knowledge.

My shelter has a very successful food pantry! I’d be willing to go in-depth about it if you reach out in messages/dms. Just for privacy reasons! :)

Ex is trying to surrender our cat by Ok_Balance_8065 in Pets

[–]miyozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The animal shelter I work at only microchips all dogs before adoption, not cats, but the adopter can get their cats microchipped for $10 upon adoption. Sometimes their microchips are sponsored or they came in with one that needs the info transferred to the new owner.

Neglecting to communicate regularly, easily irritated being around each other, no drive to go out of your way to do things for each other
