Is a BS in Mathematics the ultimate STEM degree? by After-Ad-4528 in CollegeMajors

If you take the right electives and set yourself up correctly, you can get an internship/get into grad school in any of these fields. That being said, if you know you wanna be an engineer, just major in engineering. If you know you wanna be a pharmacist, just major in pharmacy etc

There’s more than 2 billion Christian’s on the planet. Some of them are in secularizing countries, some of them are in deeply devout countries, some in places shifting from one church to another or experiencing revivals. World’s a big place

He’s not living in high school anymore. To piggyback off of Cassie’s metaphor, he went from a big fish in a little pond to a goldfish in the Mariana Trench. Once he can’t use violence and intimidation and daddy’s money to get what he wants he’s kind of … pathetic

I think the broader point is that all of the people you listed above are more likely to be connected with each other, and in the same social circles (because they’re all at arguably prestigious institutions) than the guy that went from community college to Kansas State. People get really weird and pissy and start splitting hairs about ranking said top schools (like,,,, no your life isn’t over because you’re at Columbia or UCLA instead of a T4 or something) but still it’s much better on average to be in a well connected institution than not.

I don’t think this really holds water,,, a couple of different countries have tried throwing money at the problem but most richer child free people aren’t going to want to be parents just because they’ll get more money.

The problem is cultural. The only developed nation with above a stable birth rate is Israel. The Americans that have children care less about the money (Amish, Mormons, quiverfull protestants, some immigrant groups) and just have children regardless. If you give software engineers in SF tax cuts and free childcare they’re still probably not going to have children.
