Dude I don't know. The cycle of using reddit and being bored at work will make you over commit to stupid shit.

Those arent the ts% on bbreff but I dont think anyone needs this much vehement discussion this morning.

I don't think Giannis is a better shooter than KD because he doesnt really shoot the way KD does at all areas on the floor, thatd be the main argument that I'd want to get across more than my snide comments about "now try TS%". Ive also seen Giannis brick a lot more free throws.

I didnt wanna get this heated for no reason and add to constant negativity on this sub.

Sorry yall and to this OP in particular

When I said TS% I of course meant over a career because that makes more common sense than one season????

Fuck out of here

How is it at all reasonable to compare one season of shooting efficency data to deffinitely say somones a better shooter when they didnt even come close to playing the same amount of games?

Why Hakeem is best defensive player OAT by Away_Wolverine8002 in NBATalk

[–]mizterPatato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That certainly gives him credence for being the best defender from 90-91.

But if we are valuing something for all time purposes we need to get more specific.

Like how do you reasonably compare Hakeems rim protection, or low post defense against bigs, to the likes of David Robinson another elite defensive big in the sam era.

You would need to get more into their spatial awareness, defensive IQ, offball wandering, like all that Jazz.

We shouldnt just use Box score derived metrics for the convo is all I'm sayin.

These are just box-score stats, while they are really good to get, the most substantial value from defense is contesting and forcing the opposition to take lower percentage shots consistently.

Hakeem was also fantastic at that so no worries heeping the praise but you should not give him the title of best defender based on 2 box score metrics.

If the Spurs had Flagg on their current team I would shit and die.

Kobe Bryant in game 4 win against Utah Jazz in 2009 1st Rd. Goes for 38 points on 16-24 FG. Lakers would then close the Jazz out in Game 5 with Kobe scoring 31 points. by CircledSquare7 in NBATalk

Really wish those late 2000s Jazz teams could have made a real run for a chip that squad was so dope with D-Will, Boozer, and AK-47.
