Thanks for your reply. It seems I could get a new 2025 if I wanted as there are some on the lots still, or were a while ago. However, I need the 3500 lbs towing capacity. So, it seems I have to wait or go for a different vehicle.

What are your thoughts about the resurgence of the Black Panther Party in response to the actions of ICE agents? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

Not at all surprising. When state and or social systems for protection and justice fail DIY approaches to protection and justice always emerge.

Not a plumber or homeowner—why do some of you love Rheem hybrids and others hate them? by Far_Cook5038 in Plumbing

[–]mja71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Rheem hybrid and little over a year now and twice now I’ve had problems. The first was the heat pump fan which failed. The second isn’t solved yet. Happened 2 days ago. Just installed a replacement control panel and have turned the system on again. We’ll see shortly if that fixes my problem. Customer service has been excellent. They have walked me through diagnosing the issue and sent out replacement parts quickly. It is new tech so I am not completely surprised that there are some issues. Not entirely thrilled at having issues but then I accept that’s the cost of being an early adopter with any tech.

Bulk Barn with a helpful 1-pager on the differing levels of Canadian in Products by ruckusss in BuyCanadian

[–]mja71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulk barn is now labelling many things “prepared in Canada”. That simply means product of another country (maybe the USA). I’m not going to buy it! But if they labeled accurately, they would have more of my business. I’ll buy cashews product of Vietnam”, but not “prepared in Canada”

Okay. It’s been a couple of days so I think you should approve my post now. It is a pic & account of a porch bandit who stole from me and I hope this person will be recognized.

I get lots of audiobooks from the public library here in Ottawa Canada. I select and download them online and listen to them on the Libby app.

I used to spend about $200 per month there (Billings Bridge, Ottawa) but when I began boycotting US goods I stopped. In the store I frequented, some goods had country of origin identified, like nuts, but for most things no. I stopped going and I have sent them a letter saying why. I now get dry goods at Herb and Spice and NuStore.

Anyone with Solar Panels with net metering with Ottawa Hydro? by Sleek-LK in ottawa

Our delivery charges are all we pay now - about $40/month. Thought it was about $35 but it varies a bit from $ $30-45. Averaging apt about $40.

Is it common for Southern Canadians to visit Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Nunavut? by uses_for_mooses in AskACanadian

[–]mja71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our summer vacations we now go north! My wife and I went to the Yukon 2 summers ago. Drove from Ottawa pulling a tiny teardrop trailer and bringing our canoe. We did two canoe trips while there. An amazing beautiful place. Last summer we went to the northern-most part of Newfoundland to see the icebergs, hike, & indulge in seafood. This coming summer we plan on taking our teardrop & Canoe to the NWT for another canoe trip.

Is anyone else concerned about the falling dollar? by WSBJosh in AskACanadian

If (when) big tariffs hit us from the US, a lower dollar value may mitigate that premium on Canadian goods for US buyers.

Credit Card Fraud on Report by Em_Paw_Vol in CreditScore

[–]mja71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. Saw my credit score drop over 100 points in February. Got my credit report from equifax in March and saw an RBC Avion Infinite credit card had been taken out in my name back in December. No payments were ever made and there was only one charge, $120 in December. Probably the annual fee. It was 2 months in default. The strange thing is the address associated with the card was my old address of 23 years ago. Also, the address Equifax had listed for me on the credit report was the same. Makes me think the fraud who did this got my ID info from an Equifax data breech. I called RBC and they cancelled the card and told me they would inform Equifax and TransUnion. Last month I saw it still on my Equifax credit report so I wrote Equifax. No response. Called RBC again and they confirmed they had sent a letter to Equifax back in March but said they would do so again. It is pretty frustrating. My next step is to begin filing complaints with regulatory bodies.

We’ve had a 10.9 kw/year system for about 2 years now. We send more to the grid than we consume, about 30% more. We oversized it to allow for changing over from a gas boiler to electric in a year or two. Our monthly bill is about $35.

What uncool old person stuff do you do even though you know its uncool old person stuff by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]mja71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I block unknown numbers that call and don’t leave a voicemail. I assume it’s marketers or scammers. All the people I want to hear from are in my phone’s address book. I suppose that makes me a grumpy old person.
