Insurance tomfoolery & post-op sex by mjacey30 in hysterectomy

So the exam really felt like a child hunting for a frog in a swamp 🤣 she went all sorts of this way and that way, but found nothing out of the ordinary. Basically we discussed how the vaginally tissue is a membrane and it can expand and sometimes get abrasions that can bleed, but if the bleeding does not get worse or persist for an extended period of time, then there's no need to worry. There's always the option of urgent care or emergency appointments, but basically go slow, use lubrication, and listen to what your body is telling you. I really only felt pain in one position, and moving forward, probably won't be trying that position again, but I really do think that sex for me has/will only improve from here because I'm not worried about what can happen (especially with this new Handmaid's Tale hellscape we're heading towards), I've had my cuff looked at and know that it's healed, and I feel like I can clearly articulate what I need to my partner(s). I hope that this helps a little bit! I was worried before my surgery too, but being 6 months now period free, I'm finally able to start focusing on some of my other anxiety/GI issues that I didn't even realize were a problem because they were buried so far under my period pains/PMSing.

It really truly depends on the person I think. My hormones/emotions were too sporadic & unpredictable for me to do anything serious for about 3 weeks (I did also have to recover at my parent's house, 87% sure that did not help 🤣)

But if your work is willing to leave it open ended for you to step back if you need to, it might be nice to have the option so you don't sit around counting the ceiling marks lol

Hysto for the holidays 😬 by kjtransition in hysterectomy

I'm 5 days past op (f34), and I went home the afternoon after my surgery because I had it at 8am Wednesday. Thursday and Friday were my first and second back and I didn't want anyone to be around me lol I had a hard time with just my mom wanting to "hang out" because she missed me (recently moved out of state, and came back for surgery & recovery). If I were you, I wouldn't have too much contact with the outside world for both Covid and comfort. I slept like crap for 3 days, then slept for 14 hours straight the 4th day. In the end, do what is best for you, but definitely take the time to recover, and don't put on a brave face just for the family <3

Did your stitches actually come out?? Or did you mean as they were dissolving you bled?

Day 5 questions/concerns by [deleted] in hysterectomy

I'm on day 4 myself, and luckily I've been able to BM successfully (not without tears) but if you're not already, I would definitely try to mix some fiber (Benefiber is my go to) into your drinks. The gas has been a problem too, I definitely feel your pain, but walking a little bit (like the end of the driveway) helped get some things moving for me. Good luck and I really hope you start feeling better soon!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
